TouchΓ© on Eichel - he was competitive but not a leader. He had the right idea but didn't have the leadership qualities to execute them.

Dahlin is a loser because he plays in Buffalo. I don't think he is a loser, I think he lacks the required intangibles to be a leader, if given the C, he isn't aware enough to acquire those leadership traits...resulting in more failure for the organization.

Setting Dahlin up to fail as a leader is the GM's fault.

- washedup20

This is so overlooked. Intangibles in leadership positions is important, so is having the balls to standup and call out teammates... I have not heard any players do that this year... So we now expect a C on a chest to suddenly add these traits.
Hilarious poop going on here today.

Greenway is a bottom of the league depth player that should be on a minimum contract. It's a disaster of a contract and Adams traded away the pick that turned into Heidt, a top player in the WHL 117 points in 66 games. - Watch that pick turn out to be a better player than Rosen etc. Greenway was a gamble trade that the prospect whisperer that is Don Meatball could help improve. That is a failure from top to bottom and will remain for the duration of his contract.

Benson should have stayed in juniors, I agree with that. The try-hard narrative is irrelevant. The Sabres suck with him, the needle moves little with him out of the lineup, he is irrelevant too often, piss poor management of him.

You rarely hear of any of that from a team that sucks. It's only when a team becomes good do you hear "that guy was born to lead men". We've all pretty much acknowledge that Dahlin is one of the hardest working guys on and off the ice. If you want to say "that's not enough", that's fair, and it could turn out to be right, but until he's put in that position, and you don't know if he can actually do it. Contrast that with the former captain of this hockey team, of whom there was well over a decade's worth of a body of work that suggested he was nowhere close. Are there better guys out there that can do that? Absolutely. Will they come to this team, in the state that it's in, that's already one of the least desirable markets to live in? I have a better chance of winning the Powerball.

Where has his pushback on substandard players been?
What I hear on your post is a "leader" leads on a hockey team only when he wears a C?
C'mon man... Landy needed MacKinnon's leadership to lead them to the promised land.

Dahlin can certainly learn to lead, I believe that... Just much harder at a young age without a mentor's guidance. There is no mentor on the Sabres. I want thim to succeed ... Just get him a guy who can be that mentor... He isn't on the roster.

the worst thing that can happen if they make dahlin captain is that in 2 or 3 years when they still suck he will be the scape goat and traded for 40 cents on the dollar

What a hell of an opportunity to make a difference! Adams has to sell it... He can't sell water to thirsty nomads on the desert.
I know it won't happen.
It is perfect for a guy like Stamkos who has done it all, a way to impact a club and add to his "cred" as an elite leader.
Adams upon meeting him to talk about would drop his load in his pants, chasing Stammer away. I'll

I think Cozens needs to focus on getting points before we make him a leader on the team

41 points is pathetic this late in the season

Because they succeeded under that players leadership...when they fail no one talks highly of the leadership, since ya know...failure.

The Sabres literally cry and grant any and all desires to their losing captain, while publicly idolizing a loser. It's so broken in Buffalo, for hopes sake the C isn't put on Dahlin chest per Homies post about getting traded away.

You just listed a bunch of off-ice and practice things. Stuff we don't see. Every story I've heard has Dahlin as their hardest worker in practice and the guy who tries to set the standard.
- Lunaion

Hopefully with suckposo gone, Dahlin can be the leader we have needed.

But do you remember when Eichel was named and there was a strange hesitation bc the guys seemed to think Oreilly was gonna be named and they did the limp-twisted stcintapping at center ice?

Lame

However, there was a good video on twitter where Bryan was asking someone why Dahlin never got tired and the player said that he is in the best shape of anyone and can do the bike ride test in training camp without getting winded. Perhaps there is hope.

Nobody is calling MacKinnon a giant bumhole now, at least not publicly, but wait until they begin losing.

It'll come out at that point.

Bryan was talking to Tage about Dahlin on the bench.

The immense amount of work that Dahlin puts in is no secret.

They/we called Eichel an bumhole until he won the cup. That talk is all gone.

MacK - is already a known bumhole - everyone tolerates it because:

One is a $7M potential captain of the team and the other plays bottom6 on an ELC. Is there any more of a polar opposite to compare?

Isn't he the one to get Mittelstadt to put down the controller and pick up some dumbbells? Thats a pretty good start when youre as young as he was/is. Tough to learn to be a great leader from the likes of Zemgus Girgensosns and Kyle Okposo.

Well maybe Mitts won’t be a fit in Avs system and come back as FA?

And to win you need a roster full of stars and the ability to roll 4 lines.

Elite teams have poopty cultures too, just nobody talks about it because they win.

The Sabres have a coaching and lack of talent issue. The leadership will take care of itself once they solve both
