I think the retention comment was taken out of context. Adams is just saying it was for a pick with no salary retention. I don’t think the Sabres were being cheap or anything like that.

Dahlins comments about Byram were nice to hear.

Sabres have yet to retain on a trade. I do think they're cheap, outside the immediate roster. However, you look at most of these teams being a middleman, and the returns are late round picks.
