My point all along is that Frost has a sneaky good shot and he needs to look to shoot more than he does. That goal was a great example. I like Frost shooting the puck.
- jd250

Not gonna argue with he should shoot more but he doesn’t have a sneaky good shot and that’s not even close to a good example of what you are trying to communicate

No, it's not an example of that. It's a fortunate play.

It was always going to be a tough year for him….2 years is a long time to miss. I’m not confident and I’m not ready to write him off. Let’s see how he reacts going forward. It’s not like he’s been brutal all year.

He's the captain so this has got to sting .. but the message should be clear to the entire team, Torts is going to play the players that are playing the best hockey right now, and if the 'C' can be benched, anyone can be benched. This next week is the season for the Flyers, players need to step it up to another level against these top teams or they are not going to make the playoffs. It's a good lesson for the younger players, to understand what it takes to be a playoff team.

Solid period for the Flyers, though they need to handle the Toronto forecheck a lot better, turning pucks over at their own blue line way too much. Frost line looks good. Frost is the 1C tonight, Attard and Ginning together again, Brink in the lineup, Atkinson out of the lineup. Yet people on this forum still complaining. Honestly the Flyers look like they will survive Couts being out of the lineup for a game or two. I'll tell you one thing, Couts couldn't have fought Ryan Reaves.
- jd250

Neither could TK, Farabee, Foerster, York, Frost, Brink....

So what exactly is your point?

Exactly…it was a high IQ play to throw a placed shot through multiple screens, waited for the right movement to release it. That shot was probably 70MPH
- ClaudeFather

Does 4 guys lazily moving in front of the shot have anything to do with it?

Or that samsonov blows?

That shot scores how often? 1/1000?

That goal has basically nothing to do with frost

Wow .. even when I credit Frost for making a nice play you still contradict me. Everyone sees your schtick here .. you have no credibility.

A coach only has so many bullets and capital with players. It was a mistake to bench Couturier. The results of this game won't change that.

He was the one who recognized the action in front of the goalie. So yes he certainly deserves credit, it was a smart play

I'm not contradicting you. I'm trying to teach you regardless of how difficult that is to do. What can I say, I'm stubborn in that way.

A two time, and soon to be three time, Jack Awards winner with over 700 NHL wins, is desperate and incompetent according to you

Do you endeavor every day to sound stupider than you did the day before? What an embarrassment!

- jd250

And when he doesn't win the Jack Adams, are you going to admit you are wrong?

Big picture.

He’s under contract until 2030. He was just made team captain. Pretty sure he’ll be ok.

I don't like to see Couts benched .. I am a big fan of his .. but let's look at the other side of this .. young player development. Lycksell, Brink, Attard, Ginning are all in the lineup playing important minutes. This is not a bad thing.

LOL. You expect a player to have a major surgery, miss almost two full seasons and come right back to 100% right away? Remember when Giroux had his surgery? It took him a full year of struggling before he got back. They said the same thing about hi, That he's cooked. Couturier played solidly in the first half of the season. The coach overplayed him and he got banged up. You haven't been the best judge of Couturier as a player.
- MJL

Played solidly? Ummmmm k. That’s not what he was signed for to that extension. To “play solidly” he was signed to be 1c and drive play and dominate defensively and all the intangibles.

He’s done nada of that. Sorry I don’t think he’s done that. The play of tk and tip and bee carried coots early. Not the other way around.

Let’s call a spade a spade.

Agreed! I’m glad he took the shot at the net with 3-4 Leafs screening their own goalie so I would give him credit for his hockey IQ.

Don't need to scratch Couturier to play those players. I hope you realize what is going on in this game. Overall the Flyers are getting heavily outplayed. Especially in the 2nd period. Two seeing eye goals and some puck luck. Plus Ersson has played really well.

Now let me educate you. The Frost of earlier this season when put in that situation would never had made that choice. He would have skated around the perimeter looking to make a pass. On that play Frost took that puck at the blue line and his eyes were locked on the net as move forward, waiting for the right moment and then wristed a shot top shelf. Watch the replay .. look at Frost's head and eyes .. this to me marks real development in the player, not just as a playmaker but as a scorer.

A lot of what the coach does seems stupid…but they are playing better tonight. What’s the saying? The proof of the pudding is in the eating

Again, he had a major surgery and missed almost two full seasons. Yet you expect him to bounce right back as a 1C. You can't seem to grasp that. Couturier played very solidly in the first half of the season.

Flyers are getting outplayed. Especially in the 2nd period. They've been lucky and have gotten good goaltending.

Flyers out shooting the Leafs and playing a good counter punching game against an obviously more skilled team. The Flyers also blocking a lot of shots.
