Who says either one is the villain, just pointing facts out. I'm not going to argue with you or LA. I really like how the rebuild is going, I'm glad Bowman got a clue what a good defensive prospect finally looks like and the rebuild benefits from it. That Seth Jones contract might become an issue though, i really wish KD didn't trade and sign him for all that cabbage. - BetweenTheDots
KD didn’t sign Jones, Bowman did and Davidson will make mistakes along the way too. I’m just tired of reading what a schmuck Bowman by some and what schmuck Davidson is by others. I’m not arguing with anyone just pointing out the silliness of this debate. |

It's called recency bias. What have you done for me lately? What do you think of when you hear the name Bill Cosby? - Chunk

There is no pressure when you set the bar that you are planning on being one of the worst teams in the league for so many years, and won’t commit to a timeline of when you think your team will be competitive.
According to the strato matic cards you flashed this morning, Seth Jones is an elite defenseman. Elite defenseman get contracts like Jones has. - LAHawk
You showed the card not me, but okay |

I’d actually prefer that, there would be no albatross of a contract and if he’s not performing in two years he can be launched. |

Why is Jones contract an albatross? How many more bodies would you have to pay to get to the cap floor? Besides Bedard, who else right now deserves a big contract? It will be at least 6 years before you need to pay someone who signs his ELC, and that is when Jonrs contract ends.
Or do you think the Hawks management is not as adept as Vegas, Tampa, and most of the other cup contenders that are consistently up against the cap?
I am not saying it was a good trade, and I think that is the issue, not that Jonrs got $9 mil. But what the Hawks gave up to get him. |

IMO Bowman’s biggest mistake was hiring JC as coach. Once they decided to fire Q, I think they felt they could not replace Q with another veteran coach, because Q had such a better record than anyone that he coached against, that it would be a worse PR disaster than what they knew they were going to face.

Would have been nice to see Patrick Roy come in. The team was mailing it in on a weekly basis and needed a kick in the pants. |

Not when he is injured often. Boqvist left early a couple games ago and missed next game. Hope it is not a concussion. He was over 20:00 TOI last month or even longer |

You don’t have to convince me, he was one of my favorites. And what I really admired about Bolland was he came into the NHL with outstanding scoring stats in the OHL yet embraced the role of a checker and shutdown center. - paulr
08/09 he almost put up 50pts. If he doesn’t have so many injuries (believe back) he’s prob a 40-50pts shutdown elite 3C guy. One of my fav Hawks. Wish he could’ve stayed healthy. Think the Hawks get one more Cup if he does.
It’s also one of the reason I think Toews gets too much credit (and I love Toews have 2 of his sweaters hanging in my closet).
He had Bolland then Kruger doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Bolland shut down top lines come playoff time. Kruger to a lesser extent. Toews also had on of the best 2 way wingers on his line quite often.
Kane was usually the one dragging half dead carcasses around with him. |

Only so many spots and more guys will be coming, so at some point they will cut bait on someone. Korchinski is way up the depth chart compared to Phillips/Crevier.
It's not unreasonable if they don't QO all the prospects on D. Especially when one played as poorly defensively as Phillips or lack offensive upside like Crevier. I'm not saying 100% those guys are gone, but also not 100% they will be back either. We will see what the Hawks choose in the offseason. - breadbag
They still need depth and d-men for Rockford. Both Phillips and Crevier will be signed. There aren't D-men coming for RFD. |

Most likely 3. Which would give them 3 more actual NHL players than they currently ice on a nightly basis.
They can suck just as well with others playing 25 minutes a night as they do with jones. |

I just saw that Alex Nylander has 8 goals and 3 assists in 11 games. Good for him. I hope he stays in Columbus. |

Where did I say signing Jonrs was a good signing.
I used the same source you used to back up your narrative of del Mastro to show that source also say’s Jones is an elite defenseman. I also said I am not a fan of looking at cards to project a players performance.
I also said defenseman who play 25 minutes a night command $9 million dollars. I never said Jones the player is/was elite. Is Jones the only high dollar defenseman that is not elite in the NHL? Karlsson, Nurse, Hamilton are just a couple that are in that category.
I also don’t see where a Jones contract will cause any salary cap issues in the next 6 years. Good teams are salary cap strapped, and good GM’s figure out a way to navigate it. Maybe if Draisaitl, Rantanin, Marner do go FA in 2 years, KD will want to take a shot, but based on how he has operated, I don’t see it.

In the immortal words of our pal, JJ.......ding, ding, ding. Exactly right. There's plenty of reasons for barking about Set being here, but cap space ain't one of them. |

I don't think Jones is bad or anything, his cap hit is probably 1.5mil too rich for my taste, but his cap hit isn't going to be a problem. The salary cap will most likely increase little by little the next few years and if Kyle wants to,he'll probably be able to trade him with 2-3 years left on the deal. |
