The Pens should be on their third year of rebuilding this team. But everyone wanted to "Win one more for the big three" so keep trading draft choices and getting/signing old men. Well, the Piper needs to be paid and it is going to be a while, especially without a first either this year or next!

Fans are so entitled..."Thanks Sid for almost ending your career with neck injuries but you're a bum now! GTFO!"

3 cups and 2 of which were in the last 8 years. Show a little respect and be less greedy. Another championship doesn't change your life man! You don't get to see it, you don't get to touch it, you certainly don't get the money from it. It isn't life altering for fans and if it is...that's a sad life you live.

I agree with 668710 Hextall made a mess of this team. Just think how different this team is if they kept McCann. Then he trades Marino...Then Matheson and brings back Petry...Gets rid of Bluegar. This would be a whole different team with Marino, Matheson, McCann. Plus he let E-Rod walk. As much as people hated him, he also got rid of ZAR who I felt like he was one of our better defensive forwards.

What is he's on the Flyers?
I would love him on the Flyers for 3 reasons:
1) Because he's an amazing hockey player.
2) To see the Pens' fan base throw a million hissy fits.
3) To see the Flyers' fan base throw a million hissy fits.

With all the flyers fans that tear into Crosby for “whining” to the refs how do they feel about torts whining to the refs?

- ChrisMS

I didn't personally agree with it, and he deserved his suspension for refusing to leave. But being upset at the refs for double-blowing the call is different than a rookie being upset about being hit hard.

Anyone who still puts the "whining" tag on Crosby is just bitter and jealous. Luckily, I'm only bitter.

The old players didn't have to be signed/traded for, though. That was part of the "better decisions could have been made" thing I said.

I think its been more so "try to stay competitive with big 3" than anyone thinking they would win one more cup with them. For the most part of this season the have been competitive, really. They were either in striking distance of playoffs, or at times in a playoff spot, since November up until the last two weeks. I mean, they're currently 8 points out with a game in hand with 38 standings points left. No, I dont think its in the realm of possible they make it in haha but I do think if they didnt lose Rust and Jake around the same time they are are closer, or maybe in the final WC spot. Look whats happening with the Wings. They went on a tear, looked to be a lock and have now free fallen right out of a spot in a week or so.

Jake/Bunting - Sid - Rust
McCann - Malkin - Rakell
DOC - E-Rod - Puustinen
ZAR - Eller - Nieto

Pettersson - Letang
Graves (I think someone else would probably be signed here) - Marino
POJ - Rutta

Granlund wouldn't have been needed if E-rod was our 3rd line center. I assume Carter wouldn't have been extended as long (sorry Grinder). I assume Jake gets traded, but maybe he prices himself out of Pittsburgh and we still trade for Bunting in the offseason. This team looks wayy better than current.

This team is well past the point where they should trade a top ten pick to fix their cap situation.
- Tojo.

I dont necessarily agree. The Pens need to start bringing in the next generation, but that doesnt mean they need to do it all through the draft.

Lets say you move Graves and Smith with the pick to Zona and get back Keller (and lesser picks). You have a 25 year old 1st line winger with a value contract at $7.15M per year for 5 years. Along with that you have $2M in cap space freed up.

My key caveat here is that the top 2 forwards are off the board by the time we are picking. We miss way more than we hit on defencemen and even though there are a ton of talented D in the top of the draft, I dont trust us to get it right.

I really liked Matheson. I thought in his 2nd season he really came into his own with the Pens and I didnt like losing him. If he was there instead of Graves they're probably in a playoff position right now haha.

Unless they win the lottery, very good chance you get more quality games out of a 25 yr old Keller than whatever pick from 7-10 in the draft.

Isn’t poehling having a decent yr in Philly? Not sure why they moved on from him and brought in bag of trash for the bottom 6.

Was never on the trade letang ship but holy poop that turnover was brutal yesterday. I turned it off and I’m done watching after that.

JR turned van around. He was on track w Pitt.

No, Hextall is why we're in this poop show. It's not because Sid is here haha. He's still an animal. Hextard not protecting McCann is #1 on my list of poopty ideas. He made a plethora of bad moves but that to me is the worst.

Well then the question reamins the same. If mario brought in hextal crosby might want to get that knife taken out of his back that mario put in him. Who did mario screw? Crosby or FSG? or is mario just a rich wiener?

Wasn't just Karlsson. Dubas locked up Graves, Smith, Eller, Acciari, Jarry. Most of those moves have backfired. Dubas is one of the dumbest minds in the game. Destroyed the Leafs and now the Pens. Love it.
- HockeyBuzzed

Yes the GM that got the leafs the best regular season they have had in a 100 year history and consistent playoffs for 9 years "destroyed" the leafs. His 2nd round pick is playing on the top line and his 4th round pick is soon to be the #1 goalie. Yeah...utterly destroyed them...

For the record, Smith came with 2 years on his contract in a TRADE. He didn't lock him up to anything.

No, no he didn't. Both Hex and Dubas' bottom 6s can't score. Dubas' bottom 6 gets scored on less than Hex's.

Crosby is a real competitor and has a very competitive nature. Do you think he will settle for not ever competing for a CUP again
The reality is he will never have that opportunity in Pittsburgh. Reality bites.
I am not saying to trade him......what I am saying is talk to Sid and ASK him if he would like to go somewhere to compete for another chance at winning a CUP.
It would be his choice not management.
Just not seeing Sid being happen to admit that even the playoffs are a pipe dream in Pittsburgh Sid gives the Pens a list of teams he would consider and then it is up to the Penguins to make their best deal for him
It is a win win for both sides but Sid controls that outcome Do it before his time runs out and he can compete for a CUP It also would make the league a much better league with him in the playoffs.
