Especially knowing now that they essentially got him for free. I'll take it. - ProvBrewin

I should have replaced "free" with "nothing". A 6th rounder, and a guy I've never even heard mentioned before today for Maroon is ok in my books. |

Just read that he' a shot blocker. Looks like they're seeking to replace Forbort. - glove_was_stuck
Honestly for that price peeke should have had some salary retained. He honestly is not a great D man.
Better option here would have been a Providence call up and trade zboril for futures in my opinion |

Surprised Minny wasn't involved in more deals. I know Guerin had to buy out Parise and Suter but their cap is (frank)ED |

100% true. He was one of the names I eluded to in my first post on this thread. He seems to be a cancer to whatever team he goes to, and quite frankly, isn't very good. However, since no one has given any concrete names that were potentially involved, I'm going to go ahead and assume (hope) it wasn't him. My feelings on Ullmark remain. Swayman is our future in net anyway. - ProvBrewin
PLD can be very solid when he is engaged and i feel like the Bruins are very good at that.
I also don't think PLD has had very good leadership to show him the way and keep him accountable. CBJ is always a dumpster fire and Winnipeg has their own issues. Plant him on a line with Marchand and Debrusk and i think that line would be very good.
I love Wheeler the player but he had his own issues. See Laine. Wheeler and Schefiele were not great leaders in Winnipeg. Now he has Doughty who is a big time, call you out in the media type and its a recipe for disaster.
Perfect example is Pavel Zacha. He has made huge strides in a season in a half with the Bruins. |

It could very well also have backfired because that is a lot of money and term for a player with big question marks.
So who knows. |

Physical shot blocker. Be able to evaluate what they have down the stretch. I think he’s better than people think and will provide some toughness. Columbus was terrible so hard to say. He’a got term so not a rental. And maybe that’s not a good thing lol.
I’m guessing that’s why a 3rd was added. I’d probably rather went after Dumba |

I was thinking the same thing. He can be a dominant player at times and could have been a good fit in Bos. 7 yrs at 8.5 per is too big of a gamble tho.

Absolutely insane that they are still dealing with the fallout from those signings so many years later. |

All solid points made. I'd still feel very nervous for such a gamble that carries the term and cap hit he does. Also, at what point is it on the player and not the leadership of the many teams he's played on? He is, after all, the common denominator. |

I'm sure I am the outlier here, but I've been down on Ullmark since his interview after losing game 6 last year. Something along the lines of "I will wake up tomorrow to sunshine, so I'm fine". What a sh!tty attitude to have. Now hearing he blocked us from making a potential splash, I'm even more down on him. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I've kind of had enough of him.
Edit: I partly blame Sweens for giving him the NMC as well. If we track it back, it's kind of his own fault. - ProvBrewin
Not sure how you can fault Ulmark for exorcizing his NMC. He likes playing here and wants to stay. This is 100% on Sweeny for giving him that NMC.

I agree for sure. High risk but high reward. He’s still pretty young so could just be about maturing.

Perhaps I gave a knee jerk reaction. Like I previously stated, I soured on Ullmark when he was smiling and making jokes after blowing game 6. That really rubbed me the wrong way, and perhaps I haven't gotten over that. You're correct, in hindsight it is Sweeney's fault for giving him the NMC. However, my feelings on Ullmark will remain the same. |
