I have thought about this last week. If he turned Smith into Zegras and Graves into Hanifin or Chychrun how awesome would it be. Then remembered we were sellers. It would fit the retool younger narrative though lol

Tank for Celebrini.

edit: No, you don't shut down those guys lol

- j.boyd919

Im not saying you shut them down now, and I doubt any of them would want to... but if you get to game 75/76 and you're on the edge, I think you at least have to think about it.

But if not, fine, you play Jeff Carter 20 minutes a game.

A 22 year old top 6 forward with term should be something we should look into acquiring no matter where we are in the standings if the goal truly is to give Sid one last winner.

I'd call up any young player that might contribute next year and I'd definitely throttle the old guys a little. Carter shouldn't get a jersey. This is how any rational GM and coach should handle the remainder of the season. I doubt they do it. Cause....Sully.

But 100% of Zucker's salary also went to NSH, nothing retained by ARI. That lowers the return significantly.

After spending some time reading about different prospects we were linked to, i started reading about the 2024 draft. Seems to be a very top heavy draft, especially in the 1-7 range and very good options 1-13. After that the level dips down pretty good.

I think the Penguins really need to think about how to handle these next few weeks. Im not saying "tank" because it isnt that simple. But does there come a point where you shut down Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Karlsson? Not so much to tank but more to preserve their bodies physically at their age? I doubt Crosby would be willing to, but i think its something to consider. If we are going to have our pick this year, I want to have a shot at a top 5-7 pick.

The players wouldn’t do it. But you can “shut them down” and still play them which happens. 3rd and 4th lines can start playing 13-15 minutes a night while the 1st and 2nd lines are playing about the same. Benches don’t get shortened for the entire 3rd period, power play players change around 1 minute and different players out for the PP, etc
