A prospect and 2 picks for a guy leaving amd you’re not happy ? Lol 3x what we got for Jonny I think this is pretty dam good
- Hockeyfan4life14

Fans usually are unhappy because it's not a spoon fed uber win of a trade. It's a good deal! Swapping to a later first round pick might not be so bad if Vegas falls in a couple years.

A soon to be 27 year old is hardly a prospect anymore. More of a suspect. Does have potential, but they should have got something better than the 5th best prospect in a weak system. A likely 2nd in 25, and a likely 1st in 2026, meaning you aren't likely to see the guy for 5 years is not exactly something to get excited and be happy about.

Lots of good reports on this guy & will be extending. If he turns out to be a player then its as good as we could of hoped. Hanifin kind of fcked us with his public limited places he wants to go to. 1st are hard to pry out of GM's these days.

To many fans think it’s easy to trade someone that said I’m not signing and then say only wants to go to a certain team is easy, they got a player they liked so unless you been watching him and are a pro scout wait and see what he is and they get a guaranteed 1st round with a 3 rd that can turn into a second and yet the tears are flowing lol 😂 that’s more than decent for a player they were 💯 going to lose so armchair away I guess

Yeah Hanafin said he wanted to go south too. So you take out Canadian teams too and most definitely one of them could/would have traded for him. It's all good. Got what's needed back, some draft capital and a body for next year with upside.

The fact that the Markstrom trade was nixed and that Conroy seems to be targeting 25+ years old players makes me very worried that this is gonna be a retool on the fly, with big spending on UFAs this summer and playoffs in our (delusional) sights next year.

This should be a fire sale. This team is going nowhere. Andersson will likeky bring a great return and should be traded. Sharangovich as well. They’ll be too pricey when we’ll actually be competitive, so sell them. Kuzmenko, Mangiapane and Coleman as well if there’s a taker. Everybody that can bring back at least a 2nd round pick needs to go.

7 of 32 1sts have been traded already for this coming draft. That's roughly 22%. I dont think they're as tough to acquire as you think it is. By no means is it easy, but its not like you need to be trading something elite to get one back. Craig Chiarelli could've and should've done better as a whole on all these deals.

It doesn't seem you understand how making a trade works. If there were better offers out there, he would've gotten a better return.

You really think there was someone out there who would've given him a first, two seconds, and their best prospect, but Conroy just didn't call? Hanifin has been on the block since last April. I'm pretty sure Conroy knew what he could get for him.

You can really only complain about the trades your GM makes when he's buying.

If the Flames are set on keeping Markstrom, they should probably be trying to grab Johansen for free. They're going to be fighting for the playoffs again next year and could even potentially flip him for something at the deadline. Not really any downside.

So a site that anyone can post a trade proposal is a source? Let me go there and offer mcdavid and draisaitl for 14 picks, then propose Matthews and Marner for everyone of their leftover picks. It'll make me as credible as Ek or another blogger around here.

Yes I do understand how trades work. It takes 2 to tango. And it takes a supply and demand. It would appear Conchia, and the Flames had a fair amount of the supply and sold low. Even as a anti-flames fan I would say they sold low on Tanev and Hani. Could have waited an extra day or two on each and got greater rewards. Tried to play the field. If he did, he wasn't likely getting anything less. If he did he could have possibly gotten a little more. Do you honestly think either of those guys couldn't have fetched more closer to the deadline? I do.

I’m ok with the trade to Vegas and the return. This waiting for a better deal doesn’t always work. Besides it makes it more difficult for the Oilers, which imo is a good thing.

I think you are ignoring the fact hanifin had given a few locations he wanted to go to thus causing a real problem when negotiating. Boston & Tampa pretty well felt they didnt have to put their best offer out there as they were pretty well a lock on signing him in the summer. Boston also knew they had way more cap space than Tampa come summer time & could probably easily outbid the Lightening. Hanifin only had an 8 team NTC so other teams knew he was a straight rental. Also keep in mind when you criticize the return Conroy got, Hanifin, last I looked has not extended yet. They may be talking but he might just not sign with Vegas & then this package is a reasonable rental package. Flames also had the Dallas 1st on the table for Tanev according to Friedman & Conroy wanted that Russian D kid with the 2nd instead. This draft has a pretty big drop off after the top 20-22, so if scouts & coaches had glowing reports on this player, really who are you to say it was a sh!t deal by Conroy? The intel(especially from the AHL) on this kid they got from Vegas actually sounds promising.

Agreed. I really like that the picks are in 2025.

1.) Regarded as a stronger draft.

2.) If Vegas goes deep this season, injuries will likely be catching up to them next season.

Big R shot D, what’s not to like? He’ll get an opportunity here with Huska as his coach.

Flames need to sign Monahan this summer, he’d be the perfect trigger man for Huberdeau.

I am impressed with how Conroy is building this team. Taking a bunch of guys that have been buried by the depth on other teams and giving them an opportunity is a way to build loyalty to the franchise and create a team identity, much like how McCrimmon did when he was picking players from the expansion draft.

Conroy will need to hit with some of these picks. Let's hope they have invested in scouting.

There are some seriously fun options in free agency this summer. Imagine running a line like this next season.

Lomberg-McLain-O’Brien

Wouldn’t be surprised if a steel chair found it’s way onto the ice at some point over 82 games.

Oysterman on waivers. Seems to be the odd man out . Like that Gilbert came back in, our 3rd pair is now our 2nd pair . This should be a fun stumble to the finish line.
Anyone else getting traded?
