Oh man, I may use that next year!

I’ll tell you, today feels more like TDL than 2 days out. Just constantly checking messages, websites etc.

Trying to figure out what Philly, Washington, Pittsburgh and TB are doing. With all of Florida’s moves that may finally free up Hanifin to TB if that’s the destination. Ottawa, Calgary, and Seattle have stuff all over the place. Just waiting for the the bingo balls to settle.

Read on one site that Detroit was in on Noah too!

Noah and Ben on the 2nd pairing would be a great shutdown pair!

I’m not sure they can afford the extension for him and Seider. Both looking at 8x8+

You have my permission, good Sir! Getting ready to tune into TNT for their B2B games (Wings/Avs are the late game...). Interested to see what they have to say about today and what lies ahead.

From my recollection, I cannot recall a flurry like the events of today days before the TDL like this in a while. Think the bigger names are yet to come because 3d teams/Cap Retainers need to be arranged...... Today's been cool! Now, what (if anything) will The Captain do before end of day Friday?!?!?

You know I'm not a huge fan of Chiarot, but THAT would be a very solid 2d pairing. If Hanafin wasn't pushing so hard for an extension of such length, I'd bet he'd be wearing red....

Evgeny Kuznetsov (retain $3M) for Copp
Kuzy can play all forward spots, PP, PK not very physical, but man what a talent! and 2 yrs less on his contract than Copp.

Absolutely. It’s the offseason check I want to do. What is the “perfect” percentage of cap spend. We’ve seen teams pay too much up front, San Jose had a lot tied up in Burns and Karlsson for a while. That mix of your top contributors, ELC, Veterans willing to do a smaller deal etc.

For now we have an idea of who will probably be coming up into those ELC spots. Feels like we have to let Perron go to keep Sprong. Edvinsson and Tuomisto will get looks. Mazur came on after IR and is 2nd in GR in scoring last I checked. Would be awesome to have 2 D like Mo and Hanifin. There just seems to be a constant buzz about TB as his extension preference.

These trade deadlines turn into clown shows, I swear..
Take Ducks Oilers trade

2 Questions...
Why is Tampa retaining salary when they are themselves capped out?

Did no one tell senile Kenny he needed D and G, not Forwards?

Cleared Waivers untouched. Seems like a situation like Vrana. Not going to get into the exact what and why but if “bad in the room” is a real issue that may be a non starter. Don’t know the full story, we all know “the pic” that got him suspended but past that it’s inside baseball, er, hockey.

Finally! My jaw fell open. The blame goes to goal tending and D for EDM and TOR. KH did a presser on it just didn’t have the mental bandwidth.

TB, that is an excellent question. Of all the teams to take on $ that’s one that shocked me.

Doesn't matter, it would be a huge opportunity to offload Copp! Y would have to know if Kuzy is repentant or not first.

Kenny will get a BU, maybe Reimer. He still has Broberg on the sidelines for depth.

From PHR on Hanifin. Read the whole article here: https://www.prohockeyrumo...sted-in-noah-hanifin.html

“Albeit unlikely that Vegas would appear on Hanifin’s eight-team no-trade list, the fact that he is looking for an extension already may give him some pause on moving on to the Golden Knights. Nevertheless, as the defending Stanley Cup champions, Vegas would likely represent Hanifin’s best opportunity to win Lord Stanley’s trophy for the first time in his career. There are some personal ties as well for Hanifin in Nevada, as he did play with star center Jack Eichel a decade ago on the United States National Junior Development Team.

To put some cold water on the fire, it has been only three days since Friedman himself reported that Hanifin’s preferred destination was the Tampa Bay Lightning, and both he and the team had discussed the framework of a contract extension. Unfortunately for the Lightning and other potential suitors for Hanifin, the Golden Knights have the willingness and the assets to get a deal done”

Martiez's cap comes off the books this summer! The only real player they need to re-sign is Stephenson. They might be able to re-sign Noah too!

Tampa apparently spent a few days working on an extension. So for this to turn on them they are probably unhappy

I guess not! The earlier quote from Friedman was that VGK was willing to outbid everyone (something to that degree). I am curious to hear all the pieces
