Rumor is NYR is also in on Jake. Do you take the best return even if it means the Rags win the Cup, or take a bit less if it's a team out west? (Question is as a fan, which do you prefer, not which do you think Dubas would do.)

It's a tough one. I do hate the Rags.

People are always super against trading in division... but if you are going into a rebuild that should not matter.

However, I think we are not humoring the rebuild JUST yet... gonna pretend getting a ton of blue chip prospects could make Sid and the grandkids have one last shot at a cup next year.

Without question send him to the rags if they are the best offer. Reason being is the odds are they won’t win the cup and when they don’t it weakens them later. IMO the trade game should never be “how can we make our division not win the cup” it should be “how can we give ourselves a better chance at winning the cup.” Especially if it’s an offer like pens apparently requested of lafreniere and/or cuylle and/or 1st or perrault

Thats why of all Pens fowards who have played at least 50 games he's 5th in giveaways per 60 mins at 5 on 5....averaging 9 mins a game at 5 on 5

I was more so saying he isn’t going to try and skate the puck through the middle he’s dumping it in. I don’t think he’s dodging injury.

I agree that's what Dubas should do, it was more a philosophical question as a fan, is it worth it to get a slightly better young player if it means you have to watch the Rangers win the Cup? I would really hate to see them win it. Wouldn't mind Carolina, but the Rangers and Flyers are in their own category for me.

Right. I hate the rags, but I care way more about the best return. Giving a good player to the flyers might make my knees buckle though. I don't think I'd do it.

Isn't he big like Tarzan, but plays like Jane?

LOL..I think mantha fought someone a few weeks ago? Wait it was technically a take down not a fight. That seems the normal "fight" nowadays.

Ya I hear ya. I’d honestly trade Jake straight up for Lafreniere now and be happy with it. 8 years younger and signed for next year at 2.3 and an RFA after that. Very possible Lafreniere is better than Jake in the next 2 years.

I would think there is an inner division tax compared to a western team and both parties are prob well aware of that. Especially for a core piece that was in the system for the last decade. I would trade to the rags but if it’s marginally better prospect I would send out west. A much better prospect.. well that benefits us and hurts them long term.

My WAG is that Jeff Carter knows he's at the end of his career and likely to hang it up this offseason. He's a professional. He'd love to be part of a winning culture going out. We'd need to eat as much salary/cap as possible and maybe we get something for him like a 5th-6th or a risky prospect.

He'll only be away from his family for 2-3 month max. No biggie.

Vegas, Edmonton, Florida, Colorado all adding already. Hopefully dubas doesn’t overplay his hand on Jake.
