This loss might have done it. With 24 games left, the pens would have to probably finish the season 17-7 to have even a chance of making the playoffs.

Make sure Guentzel looks healthy and get the best possible deal for him. Hopefully Smith can get the pens something.

Lars Eller having 12 goals this season really helps for a possible trade.

Rust, Pettersson, and maybe Rakell could hopefully be traded in the offseason. Maybe even Karlsson too.

I think we should trade all of our good players for younger good players.

It seems the dubas plan is working.. He's got every softest player in the league for sullivan and letting the fans and sullivan know it isn't working out, at all.

PS. Nice move kadri.

When's enough dubas?

They're just a dumb, undisciplined team

That's on Sully

I agree. Malkin and O'Connor can't be going to bench until the puck is cleared.

Letang got caught flat footed here also, he needs to keep moving and get himself in a position to help the guy under pressure.

Yes, Graves was on an island, but he needs to understand the situation better. When O'Connor got in his path, he needs to get the puck behind the net and settle things down.

You can't blame this on the young guys or your typical scapegoats. They all did their jobs. Other than one bad decision by Graves.

The play I'm more upset about is the tying goal. O'Connor must be thinking he's done enough to replace Guentzel because he got caught loafing here. Coleman, not technically his man, but the guy DOC was engaged with beat him to the front of the net by five or six steps. He needs to collapse here and help out a little bit. I would wager if any of the other young bucks would have done that Sullivan would have stapled them to the pine.

You just can't blow two goal leads this late in the game. Period.

We are 1st in our league playing the 2nd place team today, if we win we clinch first and top playoff seed. Wasn't going f'n with my sleep for the Pens last night in light of that and so glad I didn't. Up 3-1 in the 3rd and lost in regulation with 50 seconds left?! For fvck sakes haha. Burn it down... Seems the Flames may have really started the burn down... Gonna be an interesting week, no doubt.

I take it not good? I stayed up until Rempe and Reaves went then went to bed. Nice to see a guy come into the league and just be a man in such a league of pussies, but dude needs to work on technique if he’s going to fight in the NHL. Got a terrible grab, over throws on almost all his punches leaving himself off balance after every single one. His reach kept Reaves at bay, and he did knock bubooshkin out of the game. Hopefully the rangers bring in someone to help him learn how to fight.

Rough loss. Hopefully we see some moves before Friday. I could see Dubas holding out as a seller wanting to maximize the price.

What the (frank) was Graves doing giving that puck to Letang lol

Why is graves even seeing the ice there? Sully loves his vets no matter how many games they cost him.

Can’t believe no changes this entire season. No trades. No coaches fired. No one meaningful even scratched. No accountability throughout the organization.

Not every goal is amazing. Not every fights going to be. Maybe Malkin can make the shift to an enforcer type that can chip in once every 20 games or so.

I wonder how much ownership plays a part in this. I feel Dubas historically makes his trades a month in advance. Idk if he is trying to drive up the bidding as someone else suggested. All we can hope is for a big haul for Jake, and some other deals which stock us up in picks and prospects. Also that we ship off Graves and Smith since they both aren't working out.

Early on looked like smith could work out but I agree it just doesn’t look like either of them are fitting into the system. They’re mainly hanging around waiting to react and graves makes more mistakes and looks out of position more than he doesn’t. If they could unload Letang and Karlson, which shouldn’t be out of the question, then that could jumpstart a rebuild. Jake should be gone but even that haul won’t be enough to straighten the ship next season. Last nights loss will be the final dagger in the pens heart.

But why does POJ play with letang the entire game, it’s 3-1 and with 5 min left u decide to bump graves up with letang? They’ve done it the past 3 games… coaching has been atrocious all season.

If you're a buyer, you try and make your trades early, but if you're a seller, you try and hold out for the bidding war.

Figure out a way to bring in a young 2c and move Malkin to 3c. Or ship him out too. He can’t hack it at 2c anymore.

The biggest problem is sully and he is not going anywhere. Also not sure who is available to replace him. Torts would actually bench Letang or graves or anyone who deserves it. He would prob wear his welcome thin after a couple seasons but he is exactly what Pitt needs right now. A coach to be in charge of the team, not the other way around.

Pathetic when everyone’s talking about a fight between two plugs for a week before it happens like some scheduled UCF bought. Complete side show, and the lack of real emotion showed

Yea I’m not saying it’s all on the players either by any means, although Letangs brutal giveaway can only be blamed on him (and not the first game this season a direct turnover by he or Karlson led to a game losing or tying goal). coaching has been suspect at best and the constant power play struggles including giving up shorthanded chances should be enough for someone to be gone this off season. Frankly it could’ve happened a month or 2 ago and maybe we’d be in a better position, but probably not.
