Give him a couple games to get his legs back but trade or not, it would be absurd not to get him up in short order. - MacPatty
If we want to add youth AND playable toughness, makes no sense not to give Poulin a look. Besides the fact he needs waivers next year and we keep playing RWs at LW. |

Above 50% in cats (xGF, HDs and CF) at 5 on 5 is what I looked at. Didn't look for, or at, microstat cards or anything like that. I said past several seasons for some of them. Some of them most of career like Eller. Acciari, besides with Blues, past several seasons (Cats and Leafs) have been good. Nieto I specifically said last season with Avs. - MattStrat
Ok so I have to admit it looks like I did forget to change to 5v5 on hockeyreference and was looking at all situations without realizing it. My mistake there, you're right, in most stops he's been acceptable. I still don't think he's been good here, but have to retract my earlier statement. |

I think Acciari is fine if he’s your least skilled fourth liner and you can just let him do what he does without having to rely on him for much else. Problem is he’s like our best fourth liner, playing a lot of center, and also his contract is bigger than you’d like |

If we had the space I’d take a chance. Put him as 2C Malkin to wing. Get that young kid from Arizona with the cocaine video and you have 2/3s of a blow line. - 10inchTerror
Well we have Carter to complete it if we wanna just put Malkin with crosby |

Kuznetsov on waivers wtf
https://twitter.com/Fried...amp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet - MattStrat
I'll tell you what, its a huge risk, but only one year left on his contract. He is going to have millions on the line to get his poop together over the next 18 months. Put him in there as 3C to start where he will have no pressure and easier matchups until he gets his poop together. Feels like a gamble worth taking.
Trade Smith away for nothing and we have the cap space to fit it in.

I might like him better at wing, but I don't think he's a very good center |

Yeah he’s not skilled enough to center a line. He stinks there |

That was my first thought to trade Smith for a pick and claim him. We could also choose to trade Eller and Ned for picks and space. We do have 3.7 million in LTIR space. |

Just to inform you (I know you like stats) but the lightning team is 3rd this year in penalty minutes and also look alot better than the penguins. - jb55
The Lightning are propped up by their league best PP. At 5v5, they are mediocre, 27th in the league at 5v5 goal differential, 20th in xG.

... and are basically fighting for their playoff lives as well clinging to the last spot? Pens as a team are allowing fewer goals against, have a better goal differential. Are better at 5 on 5 in most metrics. PP is where they outshine Pens. Pens are 8 points behind them with 5 games in hand. |

I know that Gruden is just a warm body but legitimately shocked that was his first goal. He's had a chunk of games with the big club now. |

I wonder how it alters the deadline plan if this road trip continues to go really well. I full expect us to sell Guentzel but what we look for in the trade may drastically change. Could be the difference between valuing draft capital and futures vs taking a lesser return that brings back current contributors. |

Doesn’t matter how well they do if they still don’t make up any ground in the division. |

We have a good deal of games in hand. If we take all the points from these last two games of this road trip, things start to look interesting. Handful of games against direct competition for the wild card and our remaining schedule isn’t super strong. Still a rough uphill battle, but Crosby wants playoffs and our FO is going to keep that in mind when making decisions |

JMO... I think Dubas is still going to sell, and I don't think it will really alter what he wants in return. He's reportedly asking for one blue chip prospect + 1st for Guentz. He should be able to get that or more if he eats salary. I doubt any contender is going to give him a good, young roster player. He'll only get mid round picks or B/C prospects for the other guys. He should really wait till the draft and FA to fully reassemble the team.

I agree with you and that’s why imo I’ll be pretty disappointed if we go for some young middle six forward instead of maximizing the return for G. But what I could see theoretically happening is Dubas valuing a near NHL read prospect who’s maybe not as good as another prospect who’s further away
Regardless of what happens I really hope we sell on Riley Smith. He’s been very disappointing and just feels like he’s not a fit in the locker room. Get the cap space back and try again this offseason. |

Yeah.... I could see him doing that since he's going to try to compete next year.
I think Smith is good as gone. Sounds like teams want him. That's an easy decision.
