i don't think i like pumpkin beer. i haven't had one that made me say "i'll try this again".

this beer was okay. pretty good, i guess. went down nice too.

I'm not huge on the pumpkin beers either. Although this one was the best i ever had. Tasted like liquid pumpkin pie. Hard to find from what i've heard.

Red Stripe is not enjoyable to me at all. It's no better than Canadian or Bud, etc.

I'm not usually a big pilsner or lager fan but I find it drinkable. Pilsner Urquell is another easy to find Czech pilsner I don't mind.

This summer I've tried a few Czech brews including Pilsner, Staropramen, and Czechvar. Of the three, Czechvar tastes the best to me as it isn't bitter like the other two. Sadly, it hasn't been marketed well and it's been disappearing from US markets after it was widely available everywhere just a few months ago. I'm just lucky that the local liquor store here carries it...for now. I even went to Czech bars in Denver and San Francisco and they don't have it on tap there anymore. Then there was this Yard House in Irvine, California where they had it on tap, yet every time we go they tell us they're out. Only once did we manage to get some there but only one pint was left at that point.

It's also widely available in Canada still, I believe.

I just have a thing for it, I don't know.

Czechvar is all over the place here. Even the crappy liquor store two blocks from me carries it and they barely have anything worthwhile.

Ever had the chance to try it? Over here it tends to be 1-2 dollars more expensive than other six-packs. I hear it's pricey in Canada, though.

I've had it on several occasions. It's relatively cheap here in all honesty. $2.45 per 500ml can. $2.25 on sale right now actually.

Just as an example:

Guinness 500ml can: $2.85
Fullers ESB/Porter/London Pride etc 500ml : $2.80
Canadian microbrews are usually in the $2.50 to $3 a can range.

edit:

and bottles: 6 pack of 330 ml bottles = $12.95

The cans aren't sold here, only in Canada according to their site. A 6 pack here costs around US$8.29.

Also you probably know the answer to this. Labatt and Molson. Which one is the lesser of two evils?

If I had to choose between Labatt and Molson I'd choose apple juice. I don't think either has an edge in quality.

Just had Grand River Highballer Pumpkin Ale on tap at The Only tonight. Meh.. ok it was I guess. Pumking and even Great Lakes pumpkin offering is better by a lot though.

5/10

My friend loved it though.

I just had souther tier pumpking and holy poop is it amazing. It blows shipyard away. It's almost like they melted a piece of pumpkin pie and put it in a glass.

Sounds good. They brought southern tier ipa into Ontario this summer, had six and they were tasty lil devils. Can only assume their pumpkin would be up to par. If I see any I'll be buying some.

Just like their Choklat beer. I'm pretty sure it's 50% melted chocolate. Tastes like it.
