Good Post! I agree and think they need to keep Mitts. Would really like to see Kulich at LW with Cozens and JJ, if that worked out and the way the Greenway Mitts Tuch line looked.
Skinner Tage Quinn
Kulich Cozens JJ
Greenway Mitts Tuch
Could make a good top 9 unfortunately that leaves a lot of 1st rnd picks floating in no man's land. Maybe drop Greenway and put Benson there down the road.

Guesstimate at next contracts for the key players for the 25-26 season to show it is possible to keep all three of Casey, JJ and Jack Quinn, at least short term.

https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/4848666

That's basically an $81M team cap hit, with needing to sign 3 more forwards and 2 more defensemen.

Couple of key questions:

- Does the owner allow them to be a cap limit team, or are they always going to be an internal budget team?
- Can they find a taker for Clifton to free up better usage of his $3M cap hit?

Aren't you basically walking a bunch into FA with those contracts, atleast Arbitration.

It wasn't an exercise in dialing in the term.

Just an estimate of what the cap could look like during that key season.

However, all of Peterka, Quinn, Krebs, and Ryan Johnson would all still have 2 years left of team control at the end of those deals, and Skinner's $9M cap hit would be gone at that point.

You can't avoid arbitration.

It's not something to be too concerned with, as long as the team has more than one season of team control left.

I agree, just thought after the conversations had yesterday that people wanted to stay away from that as much as possible

My goal would be to avoid the scenario where a player has one year left of RFA eligibility, because they have total control at that point with arbitration, like Tkachuk, Reinhart and several others.

on his way to Buffalo for a week off?

"The Sabres will reconvene for practice on Feb. 4 and play their next game on Feb. 6 at home against Dallas."

>>> @ByMHarrington @LGA585 And they are giving Comrie the 10 days off. He has a 2 month baby at home so that will give him time to bond. Actually that is a class act by the Sabres in my opinion

You want your well thought of players to perform well, even in a likely lost season.

I'm not saying they should, but they can afford all of Mittelstadt, Peterka and Quinn, but in order to do that, they need to become vastly improved in terms of bottom of the roster efficiency.

They have been woeful at it the past few seasons, and no matter excuses by saying players won't come here, so we have to settle.

- kingcong39

Problem: A) Bottom Six is not producing enough and is overpaid at that, B) Sabres have issues attracting FA's to play for team, no good ones want to come to this franchise, and C)Sabres have too many Prospects in the Pipelineat or near ready for the NHL

Ray Charles / Stevie Wonder Podcast: Doesn't "C" address "A " and "B"...what are we not seeing?

Girgenso has played in 190% of the games but has 75% of the points compared to Robinson.

I know Donnie doesn't like Advanced Stats, but he must be confusing Basic Arithmatic with Calculus then too.

Krebs and Robinson actually play decent together, if Robinson can find any touch. Put a shooter not named Olofsson on that line. Go get Joshua and put him at RW on that line, probably pot 10-20 with them while adding the grit we need.

Cozens with 7 points now on this 4 game point streak.

Safe to say he’s back.

Now whenever Tage and Skinner want to show up let us know

On pace for his second highest point total of his career.

Still overpaid but I’d hardly be calling him out right now.

I will say it Again and again, just accept last year was an anomaly for just about everyone.

that’s asking a lot. Players don’t just magically find it when they’ve never had it. He won’t be here when his contract is up. He’s a replacement level Player.

Just bring up a prospect at that point.

E Johnson, Girgensons, Samuelsson, Clifton, Olofsson.

A combined
12 g , 25 A, 37 p

For a combined
18.5m cap hit.

Congrats on all that cap space we had though. That’s what you spent it on.

Last 11 games: 5G, 6A = 11Pts.
Problem is his pts come in bunches, rather than evenly distributed...of those 11 games, he has 5 with zero production.
Still, on pace for 34/32/66 over 82 games...but has missed some games so on pace for 28/27/55 playing in 74-ish games if he remains healthy. Also, a neutral +/-.

Maybe focus on getting Tage's and Dahlin's head out of their asses.

Does a good job illustrating the lack of flexibility even those relatively conservative moves leave you.

Bold is a significant. Hard to imagine their revenue keeping up with that cap.

None of the players you mentioned are NHL regulars on any team that expects to be competitive. The guys in Rochester are acceptable for AHL duties, but will never be successful in only situation where they receive regular minutes. Okposo and Girgensons will be sent packing after this season and hopefully we can sign some effective 4th line players
