Make an NHL roster like his younger Juniors teammate did...?
- kingcong39

Sucks that he missed his best opportunities to play against better competition this year. Benson, Kulich, Rosen, and Ostlund are all playing in better places. Doesn't really set him up well to compete for a spot next summer.

Not the end of the world, just disappointing.

Savoie and 2024-1st is stiff...I would only do it because of a dire need for a bonafide Top 4 RhD coupled with 385 F's in the pipeline.
It would also the Sabres to make another trade package centered around Mitts, Joker ++ as appropriate (1, 2, 3, 4 assets) to get a high-end forward with grit, snarl and compete.

Got any ideas on players?

If the Sabres select this kid with their first round pick, is he immediately a better prospect then Savoie?

It's a lot, but not by all that much. Savoie + Rosen and I jump at it.

I hate how they've handled Joker. Probably end up dumping him for spare change over the summer.

Seems like an easy yes. I don't know much about him, but I can't see how Savoie's prospect rating doesn't drop a bit this year. It's just how things work.

Benson wasn’t a better prospect than Savoie just because he was drafted a year after.

Benson was a better prospect because he had the second best WHL draft year campaign in the past decade behind Bedard and it’s a mockery to the sport that the kid wasn’t a top 5 pick this year.

I haven’t watched any of Catton to make a conclusion on the kid, but the logic is flawed

Kulich and Savoie very well could have been NHL regulars this year.

The fact they weren’t says more about the Sabres developmental model than it does the players themselves.

And with their track record with Quinn and Peterka, I think they have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Top 10 picks carry high expectations. Call that flawed if you want, but it's the world we live in.

Done.

Mitts, Savoie, Joker, Kulich, Ostlund.
Should be able to create a very nice package from that.

What player worth 5 assets like listed above is employed by a team remotely interested in trading that player?

Catton is on pace for 50 goals and 60 assists in 68 games.

Looks like better production then Benson had in his draft year.

Benson had 98 in 60 games.

Almost identical PPG if Catton can maintain it.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Not to be that guy, but Benson was one of the youngest players in last years draft class and Catton is one of the older players in this years class.

Without having watching a second of Catton play, with numbers like that, I can’t imagine he will be waiting long to hear his name called.

I’d think the Sabres would have to be looking d-man though barring winning a top 2 pick and starting Celebrini or Demidov in the face.

Offensive production would be better if he wasn’t shooting 4 goals below expected.

Being solid defensively and an NHL regular at 18 is impressive anyway you slice it

#8 dropped the 4th down conversion and now an easy first down completion.

I’d send him to the locker room now, hit the showers.

Then the special teams blew a chance to pin them down at the 1 yard line.

Complete implosion
