Supposedly Frank Serraveli(sp?) tweeted out that Dube and Heart’s leave of absence are not connected.

But it looks pretty fishy.

The time to "retool" has never been so obvious. Start trading our UFAs and let's have the team sink to where they might get a meaningful draft pick this summer.
I'll predict it right now; we'll lose one or both of the games vs. Columbus and Chicago. But it won't be because they are trying to tank.

Going back to the Blues game, briefly: How does one watch Adam Klapka being crosschecked, face first into the dasher rail, and not come away thinking that that was a major penalty?
I know that he got right back up again, but just because he's a large human he's not entitled to a legitimate penalty call?

Then Schenn goes down and scores a shorty when he should have been ejected.

I hope Dube blindsided the Flames with this. Not a good look for the team to throw their support behind him if they knew what was coming. The intermission segment last night was already sketchy and it sure looks like Dube is throwing out mental health as a get out of jail free card.

Such a sour note immediately after how well the Kylington situation happened and hopefully set a precedent.

The Calgary Flames have placed center Adam Ruzicka and defenseman Nick DeSimone on waivers.

Wow... whats going on? Gotta clear waivers to send down the Wranglers?

They’re probably seen enough of Ruzicka effort. I would have kept DeSimone and waived Oyster.

The interview with Mangiapani looks like they didn’t know. He throws his support and thinks most of the guys in the room feel the same way. My guess is blindsided.

You have to think an agent would advise him, and blind-siding a team would be a pretty stupid approach.

Anyways, I am not an Oesterle fan. Did Kuznetsov actually play the other night or was he the 7th D?

He knows that no matter what happens, he's probably done in Calgary. Do you really think the team is going to promote their mental health initiatives around Dube if they knew he was about to be charged with sexual assault?

That being said, they did go ahead with the intermission conversation about Dube and Kylington, and that was after the Hart news. So who knows?

Kuz played the 1 game, unfortunately the puck went in off of him and he didn’t get much time after that.

CHL Top Prospects game tonight:

#17 Tij Iginla, LW (Kelowna Rockets): Iginla’s huge season drew tons of attention to the game and he looked like he was shot out of a rocket early on. He had three early looks in his first three shifts of the game and showed that despite being 5-foot-11, he’s built like a machine. Just about every scout I talked to considered him to be the best player today, and it’s so easy to get into the hype. Craig Button called Iginla a “Swiss Army Knife” on the broadcast, and there’s no better way to describe him.

Dube is done! If I recall he was the captain of that 2018 team and reading the tsn articles mentioning player 1. Having to deal with a heavy burden of course that would affect you mentally. Wreckage and I can agree on something for once. I’m ashamed of the Flames supporting dirtbag Dube!!

No coincidence at all, take leave and still get paid. They knew what was coming.

It would be decent to get ALL the facts straight before calling a young man a dirt bag.

I don't think I ever criticized the player, nor the team for employing him. Just said I believe he would be one of those possibly involved in everything. Still not 100% he was but its looking closer like he was, and some people are now reversing their stances. I never wished to have these circumstances pushed towards anyone. I just stated what was released in the media at the time. Dube stated thru his agent that he had co-operated with the investigation and did not deny any wrong doing. Many others made public statements the other way. Saying They were aware of the investigation and were not involved or that they heard of the investigation and were no way able to be part of it.

When I suggested he may be involved you went off about me accusing him and that he was 100% innocent. I never said he was involved, just suggested the evidence pointed that way.... Now you are willing to burn him on the cross before he is actually found guilty.

He may be involved. He also may not be. His Identity may be wrongly made. Until he has had his day in court, he should not lose his career.

Flames must cover their asses, as do the Devils and Phillies, But to throw these young men into the snow this quickly MAY be wrong.

And by no means am I saying any of them are innocent or guilty. Just that they deserve there day in court before anyone judges them. And even then sometimes verdicts come out wrong vs's the majority of public opinion.

Hey Bro, you need to relax on any kind of judging right now on player or team. Until this all plays out & the facts are released, you just dont know. Initially there was word that 8 players were involved. Perhaps Dube was one of the 8 but not one of the 5 that are facing criminal charges. Perhaps his guilt is that maybe he watched & did nothing to stop it. Mental illness could be a real factor if he's not properly dealing with that kind of guilt. Right now its wrong to prejudge the players or the organization. The truth will come out soon enough & then the opinions can fly.

This!
Lets talk hockey FFS.

Both Ruzicka and DeSimone claimed.
Duehr back up.
Agree with Kman I would have waived Oesterle before DeSimone.

Well damn. Not sure what the deal was with Ruzi, but I wish him a longer career than both Janko and Colborne.

It sucks to put a lot of time and effort into a guy you draft only to lose him for nothing. But it is also good to have open roster spots for new guys that could be incoming.

Not surprised Rosie got plucked, thought it would have been Chicago rather than Arizona. & could see Jersey scooping for the D depth right now. Agreed Oyster would have been the one I waived but maybe it looks like Kyllington is coming back soon & Oyster can watch & eat popcorn going forward.

Oyster definitely should have been the one waived. Too bad, DeSimone was a right shot D.
Ruzicka is a very frustrating player to watch. There’s no room in the top 6 for him until we make some trades. He’s not taking Backlund or Kadri’s spots, maybe he should have been tried between Hub and Sharan and move Lindy to Kadri’s wing. Just worry about what that does to Lindholms trade value.
Center position is going to be pretty lean for the next while. Let’s hope Conroy can get an almost ready center prospect back.

Ruzi had multiple opportunities to steal a top 6 spot. He has the talent but has yet to learn consistently. Flames just lost two forward contracts of players that were passengers most nights. This opens up spots for guys looking to make a difference.

Maybe they were thinking that DeSimone would sneak through and Osterle would not. Maybe Osterle provides some Veteran presence that we cannot see. I'm still scratching my head on this one.

Anyways, trade Mangepane!
