I thiink Savoie will be first call up. I also think there won't be 3 roster spots for Kulich Rosen and Savoie so there is that too.

Also I would hope Adams signs some veterans and not ice a team where the average age is the youngest in the league.

I think Girgensons, Jost, Okposo and Olofsson are gone but why would you want Rosen, Kulich or Savoie on the fourth line.

With Granato as coach its tough to see Rosen and Kulich being full-time NHLers.

There are some great free agents this coming year Stamkos, Nylander, Reinhart, Teravainen, Hanafin it would be nice to see Adams signs one but I would imagine most will get signed before they hit free agency.

Would love for that to happen via FA, from my perspective:

Mitts and Joker will be used as trade bait but Adams won’t like the return offers so he will extend them.

If Okposo has a strong finish, he’ll get resigned.

Next years team will be what Adams thinks that has cracked the code while sitting in 26th place:

Benson Tage Tuch
Peterka Cozens Quinn
Skinner Mitts Rosen
Greenway Krebs Okposo
Kulich

Dahlin Samuelson
Power Joker
Clifton R Johnson
Davies

Levi/ UPL

Adams and Granato will again discuss the roster was built to accommodate injuries and they spent the summer learning to realize that compete is all that’s needed.

Think they should push for Stamkos, not the player he was. But the knowledge and Leadership on what it takes could do wonders for this young team. Few Teams out there with some good young D that have a lot in there system, that our plethora of Forward Assets could be used on. Montreal, Columbus, Carolina depending on Morrow. Tampa has a few young one's, could someone from there be gotten even from there Roster(Cernak). Time for Adams to use the Wealth he has.

My first choice is Hanafin and my second choice is Stamkos.

Its unfortunate Adams handed Power 8m.

Buffalo has been rumored to be in on Hanafin but would be sign here is the question.

Rather keep Power, I am not a big fan of Hanifin.

Its not one of the other.

We don't have 4 top 4 defensemen.

Just Power is overpaid and could have used that money elsewhere.

I think we do, Granato just doesn't play them. Either way I would take Power over Hanifin anyway. Hanifin is a Good player but I don't think he fits what we need. Atleast at LD

Power has struggled, really hasn't helped with them changing D pairs almost every game. Never build chemistry.

Adams UFA signing history is extremely poor.

The league knows the Sabres are the worst run organization in sports.

Kane turning down Buffalo should be evidence enough, that even an accomplished, automatic hall of famer, offense first playing style, from Buffalo, that Adams has 0 ability to convince anyone his plan is going to work.

Potential hasn’t helped Buffalo yet, youthful talent hasn’t helped.

People see Buffalo as a minor league team under Adams.

Just Stop! By the end of this Year, Okposo will have Auras coming out his A$$ and the Vibes will call FA's to Buffalo

I rather see Okposo take over coaching the PP vs. more playing time. And Okposo taking over for Ellis is about as smart as putting Ellis in that position.

Because he made some really good saves when they needed him. Yes that overtime goal was bad but he made some tough saves in the 1st and 2nd period. Stop calling out your goalie, when you leave 2 guys in front. Don't call out your goalie when it's a 3on1 and he makes the 1st stop but no one skates hard back so it's basically a Tap in goal. Start blaming the Team that sucks A$$ in front of them.

Guess I'm in the minority in thinking they didn't play badly last night as a team.

They applied a lot pressure to the Rangers, making their defense turn the puck over multiple times, and they had Shesterkin looking rattled.

I thought they played better as the game went on, I don't think they were very good in the 1st.

Dahlin and Power are the top two of the top 4.

Who are the other 2?

Ryan Johnson?

Who would be the 4th?

Samuelsson and Jokiharju would make a fine 3rd pair, but it would be an expensive 3rd pair. Likely too expensive.

They keep deploying Samuelsson like he's the second coming of Scott Stevens (minus the big hits).

No idea what the hell they're thinking with that.

The above would be what feels like year 37 of foolishly thinking and acting like Samuelsson is a top pair shutdown defender.

They definitely sucked in the 1st.

Too many times in the game though the Sabres got hemmed in. They do it all the time every game.

They can’t figure out how to get the puck out

Thought they weathered a bit of the storm early, which is common for a road game against a quality opponent, then they played well the second half of the first period, and played well after that.

Disagree, strongly, that he played great last season.

Putting aside the 25+ games he missed, he and Dahlin were not a good pairing last season.

They need to stop playing him 25+ minutes in games.

Think it's a big part of the reason he's frequently injured.

I think either Joker or Samuelsson could handle 18min a night, it's when they constantly playing 20 or more when the problems start. If Kevyn won't go outside for a Good RD then I believe we have a Top 4, it's just the 4th might not be the strongest.

I believe they need a 3rd anchor for their top 4.

Neither of Samuelsson or Jokiharju are a top 4 anchor. They are passengers.

Ryan Johnson may be in time, but it's going to take time.

We talk about it all the time: act like a real team and add true high quality players to properly support the talented young players.

The demand for consistent game-to-game excellence cannot come from the coach alone, and the veteran players demanding excellence can't be players that stink, as the good players on the team will see through that in 10 seconds.
