All of the ones Kevy didn't trade for, lol.

Picks, this 2nd rounder outperforming all the 1sts? Love him, but that is a stretch
STELLAR: Power, Quinn, JJP, Benson, Kulich
EXCELLENT: Johnson, Novikov
VERY GOOD: Savoie, Rosen
GOOD: Ostlund

Several of these 1st rounders have a longer development curve to be sure, doesn't mean they suck. Savoie got screwed by a stupid rule and some unfortunate injuries, Rosen is physically immature but developing his game and strength rather nicely. Quinn was better before a serious injury, Benson is among the best players on the team at 18, Kulich is 19 and showing terrific signs...just needs to learn the D side of the game so he doesn't turn into The Void - II.

I very much disagree on devaluing due to a strong pipeline...having these guys become NHL ready only serves to increase their value.

- IonSabres

A longer development curve generally reduces their chances of being an impact player in the NHL. If you believe that, then maybe a few of these grades are a little optimistic.

I do think there's a bit of quantity over quality with these propsects overall.

Just curious, what is a home run for a guy picked in the top half of the first round? Gotta be a good top line player, right?
- Lunaion

Once you get past the top 10 picks, if he hits as a top 6 forward or top 4 d-man I think it’s a solid pick.

We probably won't know that for 3 or 4 years, I wouldn't mind someone who could help now and next year.

What are the expectations for a 9th overall?

Homeruns to solid pretty quick there - great example of decreased value.

Those types are already a surplus on the existing NHL roster.

Peterka and Quinn were playing in the top 6 last year in year 3.

Benson is already a top 6 caliber forward.

Kulich very well should be playing in the NHL right now and is doing what very few players under the age of 20 have done in the history of the AHL.

Savoie is on pace for over 100 points in the WHL.

Ostlund fits the style of how this team wants to play and I think has 2C potential. If he ends up on the third line which is likely the case, even better.

There is so much talent in this organization. They need to upgrade the d-corps, get a goalie to pair with Levi, and yeah if you want to add some grit in the bottom 6 to complement it I’m all for it.

Fact of the matter is, the PP fell off as predicted and they don’t generate offence anymore and those are issues 1 and 2 as to why we suck this year.

If you can’t score, you won’t win many hockey games

Ostlund isn't even here yet, he is playing well and I like him. But he barely weights a 160lbs and he's gonna have to get used to playing Hockey over here.

Evidence that when all of the talent isn’t playing up to their potential.

PP fell off last year and they did nothing about it, and when you play Perimeter Pu$$y Hockey it affects your offense.

Solid, but home run?

Ultimately, at least a few of these guys will be bottom 6.

And once again there is this supposition that grit and talent are somehow opposites (from the same franking guy) We need some actual snarl in the top 6, we need a stay-at-home top 4 D-man, we need a complete replacement of the 4th line, and we need to stop carrying 3 franking goalies. This team is an embarrassment.

Terry steps away, hires all new people with no connection to this plan:

President of Hockey-Ops: Communicate the desired identity of the organization

GM: Build to match the desired identity

Coaching staff: Manage the day to day to maintain the identity

Captain: Lead through action to prove identity

Players: Earn it everyday

What would you say the current front office is set up as? Can anyone explain the identity of this team or what its becoming?

Do you see accountability at any position in the organization?

The correlation between grit and talent is sorely lacking, yes,

The list of bonafide top 6 forwards with grit is what, 10 names deep ?

Alex Tuch is probably top 10 if he counts

>>> Elliotte Friedman in 32 Thoughts:

"I know a lot of you are asking about Buffalo. I haven’t been very good lately on my coaching predictions. Plus, it is Christmas, and I’m no grinch.

All I’d say is this: GM Kevyn Adams and head coach Don Granato tend to be very much aligned. They believe in their plan.

One move that would indicate things have changed is if Devon Levi was sent to AHL Rochester for an extended period. They really believe in him and want him in the NHL, but I don’t think that’s unanimous across the organization.

They made a promise when he turned pro, and don’t want to back away unless performance absolutely dictates."

Having to promise a rookie a full NHL season to get him to sign is another signal of the sad state of the franchise.
