I don’t think they ever were, and the lack of urgency this season is complete negligence on their part.

In terms of making their draft picks, you can find busts even at the top of the draft. Alex Nylander anyone ?

They are able to identity talent at the amateur level which is even harder to do than at the professional level.

It all boils down to lack of urgency and their plan for the future, which undoubtedly still looks extremely bright (I can see the eye rolls and hear the snickering from here but there is a lot of evidence to suggest it’s true)

Adams did not do enough to win this season, but the coaching and injuries have compounded that immensely to this monstrosity of a 33 game sample of suffering

They are able to identify one type of player and draft a lot of them. That is it.

Development year 3. Prepare for one more. There were options to improve this team that were not taken.

Improvements scheduled for next season:

Out:
Girgs
Olo
Robinson
E Johnson
Comrie

In:
Rosen
Kulich
Savoie
R Johnson (full time)
24’ 1st round top 10 pick

The potential these rookies bring is the solution to the Sabres problems. It makes them even younger, which raises potential which means future which means talent which means bright which means uh oh I’m in the bright white padded room again.

Pretty much! They don't have the right pieces to complete there total internal rebuild to finish there plan. You would think if they had a plan they would have drafted accordingly. Funny one of the actual prospects that they did draft that might fit the Gritty tough to play against Top 9 forward we need. They traded away to get tougher last year and Stillman got knocked the F@ck out. And to top that Cream Boat with a Cherry Lollipop you call out a player(Cozens) for saying the exact same thing you said last year! Brilliant 👏 👏

Wasn’t Bloom a Botts pick?

Bloom was picked in 21, same year we took Power at 1 so Adams made that pick.
Hagel I believe so

Wow I didn’t know Adams could give up on one of his draft picks, of course it would be him lol.

Yeah, one of the few in the pool with some size. That's why I was big on Nadeau, but his game just hasn't transferred over to the AHL. His skating just hasn't improved enough yet.

Chad still drinking the kool-aid, made with fresh Chautauqua lake water:

Not to call out Joe here but this type of thinking is where I throw up the stop sign.

There’s too much talent and intelligence in that front office to see they failed badly is season and be like let’s do it again.

There will be swings b/c there has to be.

They already missed 2 signs to try and improve, during the season last year and this off-season. What makes anyone think they aren't missing the VERY BRIGHT signs right know or during the rest of this season. You want to play Money Puck then let Ventura be GM and let him be are Billie Beane.

Who is more to congratulate here on the drafting though Adams who’s doing very little scouting or the amateur scouts and team they have put together.

I don’t honestly feel that Adams has what it takes to do the job and do it well.

Sabres have no hope.

Okposos the captain thinks the effort is fine for Donny.

- the effort in games has been the biggest issue all year. Call it “complete” then Okposo.

Donny keeps making major mistakes

- 11 F and 7 D - stupid and doesn’t work
- Ryan Johnson healthy scratch
- Jost Olofsson - insert player here line - for weeks maybe months they couldn’t figure that line out.
- okposo playing so much when his game is cooked

You are a head coach. Try kulich, move Krebs up to that line. Do something.

Continuous lining up the same lines and roster is insanity. Thinking you can get different resumes.

Clearly you have no clue who the Sabres have in their front office besides Adams.

Karnanos and Ventura are very highly regarded in the analytics community. Heck, I would give them credit for most of the Sabres draft picks. (Based on watching beyond blue and gold)

So typical uneducated response by you

Well maybe if Adams used there knowledge more, he wouldn't have gotten into this mess! From what I can see other than drafting he hides them in a closet for 10 months.

My Xmas Wish list for the Sabres:

1- 1 set of gonads loaded with testosterone for GM Kevyn Adams (maybe spell your first name the manly way would help too).

2 - Fire and replace all the Assistant Coaches. I'd like to see Granto operate with a capable staff.

3 - trade for Gibson, use UPL and Cliffy and throw in a decent prospect.

4 - trade for Tanev, resign on a 2 yr extension. Give them Ostlund (add a 2nd if necessary)

5 - trade for Konecny, use Mitts, Rosen and Olofson

6 - trade/waive Comri

Skinner -Tage - Tuch
JJP - Cozens - Konecny
Benson - Krebs - Quinn
Greenway/Robinson - Jost - Okposo

Dahlin - R Johnson
Power - Tanev
Samuelson - Joker
E Johnson

Gibson
Levi

Kulich eventually comes up to replace Krebs at 3C and Krebs drops to 4C

What does this have to do with adams? It was literally the perfect offseason to use their cap space to an advantage, take a swing and try to propel this team to the next step. This isn't including the mediocre at best trade deadline. The team needed obvious help long before that but adams sat on it just like he did this offseason

If those two are so well regarded and analytical then how didnt they figure out bringing back the band was a bad idea

Keep them on for the draft if they played that much of a role. None of this front office should be making roster decisions

If this is what we get with Adams, I would rather Ventura give it a try. Like to see how he would build a team.

They are part of the staff that failed this season. They are part of the problem, his post just shows how dumb people are and will blindly follow potential regardless of results.

On top of drafting the same player over and over again, they failed to build a winning team. There is no solution here where the draft picks fix this roster.
