I know youre being facetious, but to be clear, I genuinely don't mean to poop on him and I certainly hope he does well. that's a tough injury though and it may take some time. I wish they had added a plan B

Oh I agree fully. While I really had hopes for Quinn to take a big step this year, hes a young kid with a major injury like that im not pinning any expectations on him

It was mostly sarcasm and honestly I'm a bit surprised there is no conditioning stint. If tuch sits out again it won't be the first injured player they rushed back

Conversely, how many washed up vets will we bring in or keep before we learn that's nonsense? The guys you named, outside Sammy, aren't the ones bring this team down. The issues are Eric Johnson, Jeff Skinner (due to contract), Kyle Okposo, Tyson Jost, Victor Olofsson, Zemgus Girgensons, Connor Clifton and Eric Comrie. Replace those guys with real NHLers and we're likely in a playoff spot right now.

It's the same problem that has haunted them since Botterill - they spend a bunch of money and assets on many mediocre things instead of spending assets and money on 1 thing that is actually good and a needle mover

Yes, 100%.

I'd love to, but the who and how are big question marks. UFAs seem to have us last on their list and we have a GM unwilling to risk anything. So we're stuck overpaying Eric Johnsons or trading for more of the same. Essentially, I'd love to see it, I just haven't seen anything to indicate we're able to do so.

Going back to the origin of this, I just don't blame the current standing on the kids. Most of them are pulling weight, it's the vets that aren't IMO.
