That’s just it.

Everyone on earth knew the shooting percentage would go down, but if you would have told me the offence would look this anemic I’d be shocked.

Maybe a few more pressers of Donnie talking about compete will help. Guy is a meatball, that’s forsure

every metric i look at, i round back to coaching.

This is the exact same team, and all of their scorers are in their primes or developing. Missing Quinn is a minor excuse on the players side of failure.

When they come out flat and gross, that's on the players too.

But having a poor offense when you once had a great offense, nothing changed except the approach to the game.

Your goalie (a goalie) is playing fine. Your defensive structure is moderately better. Your entire offense, consistently, has been buried in an iron casket and thrown into the mariana trench.

F that. No more recipes. I'm sure it's possible the Sabres can fire their coach in December, make a great trade or two, and ride a hot goalie to the promised land just like St. Louis did a couple years ago...but it ain't happening so whatevs.

So now I'm just watching all the HB posters who predicted we will suck forever waiting in line for their participation trophies. I expect their victory laps will last until the 2028 season, at least, so there's that to look forward to. Yay us!

UPL is playing at a starting caliber level. Even as the team is ranked almost dead last in odd man rushes.

Can't point at the goalie over the first 25.

The structure still stinks. The PK regressed without Tage and Greenway. All this garbage and absolutely nothing to show for it. No offense, bad defense, average goalie. Now tell me it's not coaching.

Saw glimpses of it against New York and St Louis.

I thought overall the game against the Preds was fine as well, Cozens is snakebit as one can be at the moment.

Problem is, they won’t fire the chooch and they are treating this season once again as another retool.

Unacceptable after knocking on the door last year

The GM failed the offseason.

The coach is failing significantly, it would be surprising if he hasn't lost the room.

The other 31 teams learned how to beat this same team last year, the more things don't change, the more this will continue to get worse.

the chooch is so appropriate.

id like to believe this isn't a retool year, based on their words. but granato isn't providing winning structure, and kyvyn is sitting on his laptop playing solitaire.

the reason they won last year is *how* they were playing offense.

There is no sign of that offense. It's bland, soft and predictable.

Yes because people want the Sabres to suck and watch them make the same mistakes over and over again! Maybe posters wouldn't talk so Down if the Team had actually done anything over the last Decade. Better hope it doesn't take until 2028 to have some kind of Victory Dance. It Would just show the continued Incompetence of this Organization.

True,

They caught a lot of the league off guard last year, the league figured them out by March, resulting in missing the playoffs.

I think this offense has part of the goods, but it's missing the muscle that allows them to play their game. A good coach could make adjustments to improve what is going on but that hole is still there.

The powerplay alone is enough evidence the coach is a one trick pony.

I'm concerned the perceived talent on this team, can't break away from Granato and just go out and let their talent take over. It's a reactionary game, systems only go so far, they are mentally weak...they have regressed back into expecting to lose.

Which is problem A.

It’s the same roster that wasn’t good enough last year

And their offseason additions actually made them worse

Their best stretch of games was probably the final 12 games they played.

March they fell asleep for a week, I won’t argue that

(frank) kevyn. and this is a direct tangent point you made. but the exact offense, the one (frank)ing thing they did well, and the coach neutered it.

Correct,

They went 5-10 in March with a 4 game losing streak, that killed them. They did go 6-2 in April but the hole they dug was too deep, it's also when teams let their foot off the gas except the few chasing. The nail in the coffin was the loss to Florida.

Donnie's end of season press conference was about how this team went from the mindset of hoping to win, to expecting to win. The rest of the league has caught up to how they play, not adding real support by the GM and the coach being out to lunch for the year is exposing the fragility of this group. Talent is not enough to save them.

The way they play though is night and day compared to last year.

They came out this year and Kreuger’ed it in an attempt to improve their team defence.

They look like they are starting to get back to things they were doing well last year but still inconsistent

Time will tell.
