True. While Skinner is maddening to watch at times, defensively inept and prone to turnovers every other shift… he is still a scorer on a team challenged to score goals. He is a pest, a 💩disturber and also not afraid to go into the dirty areas. When looking at this team and the multitude of glaring flaws, J.Skinner is at the bottom of the list. He is on pace for roughly 35 goals … he is one of the few players I don’t worry about. We knew what he was when we acquired him- so this nonsense about him be lazy and shirking his defensive responsibilities shouldn’t come as a surprise.

He looks frustrated, and I blame that on the people above him. Adams/Granato need to set some lines and stay with them. And they really needs to start trusting some of there younger players if they want this team to move forward.

Skinner, Dahlin and Thompson are the only reason I watch Sabres games.

Very true. I also watch nowadays because every few games this team seems to reach new levels of failure

Same here. I was going to turn it off after 2-0 last night but there was literally nothing else to do last night and I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to see how actually bad this can get. I'm hard pressed to find anything that is a bigger joke that the Buffalo Sabres during the Pegula's tenure as owners.

Honestly I just feel bad for the three of them. Just waiting for them to become ruined spiritually by this club.

I liked the ESPN announcers. I thought they were good. The entire broadcast really. Listening to our local guys is the most broken of records.

Getting to the point that you either fire some people and hopefully catch Fire. Or you play your youngins and get them some experience to take into next year.

Pretty good rant from a guy on the athletic

The Sabres are down with under 3 minutes left. After playing horribly in the first two periods, they've gotten the game to within one. The top six is buzzing, consistently getting quality chances. They have an offensive zone faceoff. Does Granato pull the goalie in a clearly advantageous spot? No. Does he get either of the top lines out there? No, he puts Krebs-Jost-Okposo on the ice, three of their worst players this season, all of which have been horrible offensively.

In a small sample size, Ryan Johnson has elite defensive numbers. But he has to sit for Clifton and Erik Johnson, one of the worst pairs in hockey. Clifton has been one of the worst players in the entire NHL. Even when R. Johnson is in the lineup, his minutes are limited when he's clearly the third best defenseman on the team right now (more on that later).

Lyubushkin was an awful signing. Clifton is somehow much worse. Comrie has been bad. Greenway is an offensive black hole that should be a fourth liner, but Adams decided to keep an entire fourth line that is now horrible offensively and defensively so greenway is stuck in the top nine, usually the second line. Adams has shown no impetus to make the team better, and virtually all of his moves besides selling off players have been a disaster. There's something poetic about the Red Wings, who have a worse core than the Sabres do, lapping them this season because Yzerman was aggressive adding to their core.

Look, the players have to be better too. It's not their fault that Cozens has been awful for most of the season, and has become snakebit once he starts playing well. It's not their fault that Samuelsson has been dreadful, although it is Adams' fault he committed seven years to a bottom pairing defenseman masquerading as a top pair one before Samuelsson even played half a season's worth of games. It's not their fault for the injuries, although the team staying extremely healthy last season should have been a warning sign that Adams needed to add this offseason.

That said, it's apparent that tactically, Granato doesn't have a clue right now. The player usage is asinine, starting with his loyalty to his washed up captain. We have no idea if Adams is capable of improving a team as he's only shown the ability to hoard prospects and picks. The team is crumbling faster than the arena they play in, ruining all of their good vibes from last season. It is incredible that the longest postseason drought in history overlaps with Pegula's ownership. Just when it looks like they turned a corner last season, they've regressed to a level that it looks like they can't recover from barring drastic change. As a STH, I dread going to games again, which I never expected going into this season. The Sabres are an epic disaster from the top down right now, and it's simply sad.

The convenient excuse is no players want to sign with Buffalo, but isn't the job of management to sell the team to quality free agent and players overall?
- kingcong39

The talent level here should be helping to fix that

The lack of a winning vision and experience or ability to make it happen plays into it I imagine

Ownership has done their part in alienating a winning culture too

This poop was mind blowing. I'm not a huge pull the goalie guy, particularly when your team is already buzzing, but you're in the middle of a 3 game losing steak and you sit near the bottom of the conference. Don and Kevyn are lost. This after having all of the most lost humans in the hockey world having preceded them. It's as insane as it is sad.

The longer they refuse to fire people the more I think ownership is working on selling the team rather than fixing it. They can't be this checked out? Right?

"Yet seven seconds into his postgame news conference Tuesday night, Sabres coach Don Granato went out of his way to mention it was Tage Thompson’s first game back from injury and just three seconds later made a point to remind everyone they didn’t have Alex Tuch in a 5-3 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings."

Think Pegula is waiting until the Team is worth a Billion, it will be about the time he will have to start dishing out some Money for the Overages on the New Stadium. Think there at about 900mill know.

At 45 seconds, Granato bemoaned Buffalo’s lines haven’t had appropriate “stability at all” and soon — again unsolicited — weirdly noted “Our top five penalty killers were all out of the lineup tonight“ even though every leading defenseman in short-handed minutes and his third-busiest forward were in uniform and Detroit scored only one power-play goal anyway while building a 4-0 lead late in the second period.

WHY IS ERIK JOHNSON (frank)ING HERE HOLY (frank)
