This is not a shot at anything you wrote being inaccurate, but the time for moral victories or being the better team but losing is over.

They need to learn to win, and quickly.

I'm definitely not a moral victory guy. Was just trying to point out that they actually played a solid game (more or less) instead of some of the soul sucking, flat ass games they played previously.

That's the adjustment in Granato's coaching style, going from development to winning and riding who he trusts...resulting in regression.
- washedup20

We need a goalie, but this GM refuses to acknowledge this. We need a. real partner for Dahlin, but this GM refuses to acknowledge this. We need a real top 6 center that can actually win face offs, but this GM refuses to acknowledge this. We need real coaches, but this GM refuses to acknowledge this.

Cozens looks completely lost. If he can get us a nice return and we can shed his deal, I’m done with him. We need real centers. We don’t have a single one

Guy's had a rough few weeks and you're washing your hands of the guy who had almost 70 points last season?

neat.

We’ve had a tough couple decades and we are not getting the pieces we need to fix this for tier 3 prospects

well, ok, but this doesn't have to do with booting out a 70 point, 22 year old center because you didnt like his game lately.

Brett Murray led the USHL in points, not almost led the league....he lead the league.

He had a rough start and a difficult injury. Not someone I'm worried about.

There's plenty to complain about, but top 6 C's? I don't get that.

no. The inconsistencies of this team is by far the biggest issue here. Way more than the talent level. Which could stand to lose some dead weight.

When this team obliterates one of, if not the best team in the league, you know they have that in them. But it's every other game they bring that intensity. Last night was like, half between good and bad, with a bunch of bad defense and shoddy/inadequate goalie play.

I will remain concerned about coaching until they can show otherwise.

I feel the same, add on the inconsistent linemates and playing with Larry's...they constantly play him like he some sort of utility player ... he isn't needs consistency, also Quinn helps him considerably.
They are misusing him.

I would've figured after watching Levi play 4 straight, get hurt and come back slower would've been sufficient warning.

I'm not going to rant about last night. I don't think they were that bad. They generated a ton of high quality chances, and gave up a bunch.

The one things that bugs me is that Donnie keeps doing this to his goalies. Pull the kid before it gets ugly.

It was a piss poor attempt to say Cozens almost getting 70 points in a season where the team doesn't make the playoffs is irrelevant.

Cozens imploding during the season of embracing expectations (injury didn't help but he wasn't elite before it) should be a concern. This is not a funk, this is a failed season for him, for a number of reasons.

The main issue is Mitts and Cozens are the same caliber of player who excel in the same role. They have played together for 3 or 4 seasons now and it hasn't worked. So moving on from one of them, as they both would yield a good return, balances the roster and removes the liability of putting one of them in position to fail to allow the other to succeed.

Also Murray should be Captain of the Sabres.

I like that order, personally. We can't do to UPL what we did to Levi and just play him until he collapses. He looked a little tired yesterday, falling away from shots, that's a sign he's being overworked and needs to be eased in. It's easy to forget but he had like 4 starts (excluding preseason) in 7 months coming into this year.
- QuinnFan

He had two days off in between games. He shouldn't be tired. I don't blame him for most of the goals yesterday, btw.

I wish someone would explain what boarding is to me. Does it have to be from behind? The rule seems to be that a hit on a "defenseless player" into the boards would suffice, but all the examples I see on the site are of hits from behind or where the player lands face first. Does anyone know if it does in fact need to be a hit on the numbers?

A boarding penalty will be assessed to any Player who checks or pushes an unsuspecting opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously.

The severity of the penalty will be based upon the degree of violence of the player’s impact with the boards. There is a considerable amount of judgment involved in the application of this rule by the Referees. The duty is on the Player applying the check to ensure their opponent is not in a defenseless position and if so, they must avoid or minimize contact. However, in determining whether such contact could have been avoided, the circumstances of the check, including whether the opponent put themself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneously with the check or whether the check was unavoidable may be considered.

Any unnecessary contact with a Player playing the puck on an obvious “icing” or “off-side” play which results in that Player hitting or impacting the boards is “boarding” and must be penalized as such. In other instances where there is no contact with the boards, it should be treated as “charging.”

A Minor penalty will be assessed to any player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously.

At the discretion of the Referee, based on the degree of violence of the impact, the Referee may assess a Major penalty and Game Misconduct penalty for boarding.

If a player is injured, as the result of a boarding infraction that would otherwise call for a Minor penalty, a Major penalty and Game Misconduct penalty must be assessed.

A Match penalty will be assessed to any player who deliberately attempts to or deliberately injures an opponent by boarding.

No Misconduct penalty may be assessed for boarding.

A Game Misconduct penalty must be assessed any time a Major penalty is assessed for boarding, as detailed under Rule 7.2 (b).
