btw Punchy is on the ice. He has a facemask on. Looks like Hathaway was a bad choice.

few different approaches. You can stick him with those two to help develop his defensive game like you did with Krebs, but I think considering he's a proficient scorer, unlike Krebs, it would do a disservice to the player and the team.

Or you stick him on a depth scoring line taking weak matchups with Savoie and Cozens and watch them outshoot their comp.

It's an interesting question, but there's a middle 6 spot for him today. A change has to be coming soon. Benching your 3rd line very night can't be a long term thing and your 4th line isn't handling their minutes well either.

>>> The Buffalo Sabres absolutely love to make an "upgrade" like this once an offseason.

"but bro the penalty kill"

Dawg I don't care. He's one of their worst penalty killers too lol

How do you account for the leadership and increasing their average age?

Why does leadership only come from broken down old players?

Because good leaders who still have ability and youth have little or no interest in joining a team that is not entirely focused on winning?

See Boston, their leadership has won and won a lot. They lose arguable their best players and still keep winning.

Buffalo keeps losing because Okposo, Girgensons all they know is losing.

waive olofsson for the love of god and give krebs some press box treatment and give a whirl to savoie kulich cozens maybe?

its bound to have ended up here but we're in a very weird bridge spot where we don't know exactly what we have or if the young guys can handle it, but we also need to win and there's not an obvious correct answer

rousek went from "wow hes definitely ready to take over the girgensons role" after training camp to okay hes not good enough yet pretty quickly, and theres no way to discover that without it hurting the team

Goal scoring should come down.
Goals against should go down.

What a weird start.

What’s the worst that happens, someone claims him?

Oh no they opened up a roster spot and nearly 5 million.

In fairness, they aren't asking him to play Girgs role. They are throwing him on a line that they don't trust, barely plan to play, and is set up to fail. He might be perfectly fine as a 4th line winger, but we have overpaid players with death locks on those spots.

I bet it's part of the reason Savoie didn't play last night. Wait til Cozens is back and he at least has a fighting chance of contributing.

Boston is a well oiled machine that develops players to fit roles, they seamlessly transition as they get promoted this way, it's very effective.

Leadership, even when Eichel was here was always a weakness for this organization. The current situation was avoidable, I have yet to hear/reeed a viable reason for their return.

the issue is pissing away money on clifton and johnson, not paying power and dahlin

It takes some time for players to get comfortable in a new system and city

Let’s give these guys another 20 games

Also, I feel like both have played well at times

Experience = leadership

It’s also natural to look up to players older

Unnatural to look to a younger guy imo

About half their roster was acquired, trade or signing. They do extremely well there.

Was a lot easier to send asplund packing without the anchor contract

They would love to have someone claim olo and give the same “ helped the player out” speech

Precisely why he didn’t get moved at the deadline, off season. We don’t want to eat cap to move him for a pick, and no one wants a 5mil dead weight contract for a part time PP guy
