Just created this to give further context to what you're point out:

https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/4682441

(I potentially estimated slightly high on all the signings, but not by much)

- kingcong39

I threw it in a spreadsheet and mine looks almost identical. Saved a few $ cutting Girgs and Jost.

Let Greenway walk the following year + bridge everyone to barely get under the cap again.

It's manageable, but a lot tighter than it seems.

You can save the money by not re-signing 3 extras.
- DirtyDan

You're rolling with an NHL roster minimum of 20, with no backups at forward or defense?

One of the extras is Savoie...

I don't see how that's possible. If you extend Mitts + Joker, even bridging them is going to get tough....if they play up to expectations.
- Lunaion

Going to have to be more aggressive in those negotiations for sure, but even with the cap going up, not enough? How many of those 4 do you expect to lose?

Much easier using CapFriendly's Armchair GM then a spreadsheet.

I also have a difficult time believing the cap limit is going from $83.5M in 24-25 to $92M in 25-26.

Wouldn't say I expect them to lose any, just think it results in more bridge deals.

Mitts is probably closer to 7-8 than 6 IMO. If he keeps the pace obviously. Give him the Cozens/Tage contract.
- DirtyDan

This sounds about right

7 x 7 ror type money possibly

Spreadhseet doesn't take any time and it's easier to take it out to year 2.

When you're home and out of work caring for a newborn, using CapFriendly is easier 😆

As for the part about taking things out to year 2:

Just because he says some goofy poop doesn't mean he coaches like Ralph (frank)ing Krueger. Holy poop.

I don't see why it's a crime to handle Levi how he's been handled.

He's a rookie, this is how they handle rookies. They don't play them hard. Why is this a bad thing.

- TheSabresTaco

Show me a coach that doesn't speak in cliches. Granted it's way worse in the NFL, probably just because you're more exposed to it come to think of it. But the NHL isn't far behind

RoR's 7.5m deal is 9.2m as next year's cap %.

If he puts up 60+ points as a C, his comps are quite a bit higher than 7m.

Vibes check. Dahlin and Power didn't give him any kind of discount, will he?

Looks to me like we'd be fine based on this. RyJo, Rousek and Savoie will be cheap. Levi, Quinn and Peterka should come in around $13-15m. What am I missing?

83.5m this year. 87.5m in 24-25. 92m in 25-26. If Capfrindly is correct.

That's what I was thinking, particularly for Quinn and Petey...Levi they may want to just lock up if he develops. It's a couple years after that, depending on cap increases, where things get tight. Looks like none of the models I'm finding project beyond the 92M cap hit for next season.

It might be $92M in 28-29, but you're right, they'll never have that big of an increase. They'll find a way to fück with the numbers.

I wonder if there's a mechanism to stop huge increases like that. They obviously have the escalator, but that's for raising it more than it ordinarily would.

They are just estimates and I believe they have a history of consistently coming in below them.

Yeah, it was supposed to be a big increase this year, too, but, oh, look at that, escrow still hasn't been paid off.

If you want to go out further, you have to discuss Tuch and Skinner.

All these committments, 0 playoff games. Hope they don't over do it. Even if it all works well, have to leave enough flexibility to handle a prospect taking off.
