yes, also the team sucks at faceoffs. it's chronic
- TheSabresTaco

You said he's are Defensive Center, I don't really care about the others. I do if you are gonna be my Defensive C and I am starting on the wrong side of the puck 60% of the time.

No, I am underwhelmed that they are letting the shine whare off a piece they wanted in the Eichel trade. Sabres have other players that can play 4C and they don't have spots for everyone, use him before he is worth Olofsson.
- Buff36

Krebs was better in his role than Jost was in the same role. Sabres don't have another player to play that role. It's those two and only those two.

Would you rather force Krebs into the 2C and push everyone down just to satisfy some subjective value you have for Krebs in the chance that he's traded for a pick in three years when it's time to elevate Kozak and Ostlund?

As is convenient, "faceoffs don't matter, until they do"

Perhaps Mittelstadt is traded before his next deal and it pushes Krebs to 3C?

Wouldn't count on it. They'd never get proper value.

No I would rather see him at 3C and use that new found Defensive structure to help offset some of Olofsson deficiencies and help Olofsson score goals.

You are probably right, but he had his best year with a solid C who could play a 200ft game.

well when you have 5-6 prospects truly pushing for the roster, yeah it's interesting. Biro Rousek Kulich Savoie Rosen, and maybe Benson

Numbers strongly suggest otherwise:

Girgs-Jost-Okposo 57% xGF%
Girgs-Krebs-Okposo 46%

flip side is you have over 7 mil in cap space and you still have guys like 6k, comrie, bryson, jost and girgens on the opening night roster

The Nerd Phone is only Pay as you Go, Adams only covers the 2 months before the Draft and 3 days before the TDL.

I'm suprised you dont like krebs.

Very likable IMO

Did what they asked, dropped the gloves.

If people want to be upset that Krebs hasn't been utilized - and succeeded - in a top 6 role, that's fine I guess.

But to say he's a waste because he's good at what he does as a checking line, defensive forward with a low salary is ridiculous.

I think we should feel pretty good that we have the center depth to allow him to succeed in a defensive role. Because since Drury was here, we didn't have this depth.
Why are we getting upset about this? Because Kevyn wanted him in a trade? What the (frank).

- TheSabresTaco

I actually think not pigeon holing him into a top 6-9 role is a good thing.

Imo he isn’t it (offensively)

Don’t waste time in a must make it year trying to find out.

I do like Krebs, I want better for him than stone hands and slokoposo on his Wings. I mean with as many prospects coming I would like to know if Krebs has more than 4C or give him Biro and Rousek to work with there atleast.

Plus, having more rookies and an even younger team might not be great for us. It's cliche but having veterans who have been in the league and know how to play and prepare and endure 82+ games is a big deal. I don't want to overstate how important having those players is but it shouldn't be understated either. Okposo is gone next year but you hope he can be that leader in that room and it can rub off on players when he leaves.
- Zschalberg

C'mon man!
Okposo has been here 127 years and many on this team have been here long enough...Skinner, Tage, Tuch, Cozens, Mitts, Dahlin, Joker etc.
The anticipated leadership going forward consists of many of those guys, if they don'y "have it" yet, I seriously doubt their leadership ability going forward.

Secondly, we are going to roll with very similar lineup as was here last year and forgo breaking in a couple rookies like Biro & Rousek.

But next season, then it will be the time to break them in plus a couple more? This season, not so much.

I just don't see the logic here.

Would I like to see Krebs as a top 9 center? Yes.
Would I like for the asset Kevo demanded to be more offensive? Yes.
Am I happy this team has 4 honest to god centers? Resounding Yes.
Do I need him to take Thompson's, Cozens' or Mittelstadt's role in the lineup? No, I don't think I need that.

I'm not going to slit my wrists because Kevyn wanted a player that's become pretty good for us in his young career despite being lackluster in offensive generation.

- TheSabresTaco

He generates offense - it's just that he plays 10 minutes a night and it's with the Larry's. I'd be happy to see what he could do in Mitts spots. But tbf - mitts has earned it and I also don't want to negatively impact his potential trade value if he can keep rolling like he did for the 2nd half of last year. We can have some patience with Krebs. I do worry that he might lose some confidence in his playmaking ability as time wears on though. Who knows - maybe it's 4d chess from KA keeping krebs suppressed and signing him to a $2.5 mil x 7 year contract and then unleashing him in the middle 6 withi some of the young guys coming up who can finish.

Say we had not brought Oko and Girg back and plugged in any 2 of the kids. If, by Thanksgiving, the kids stink, look overwhelmed and out of place, would you be bashing Adams (for putting untested rookies in the lineup too soon) as strongly as you are now and have been bashing him the whoooole Summer before the team even plays a single game? Would that qualify as "ruining our young players' development/rushing them in too soon"?

And, no, I really do not care or want your response...it's a rhetorical question.

Pre-emptive bashing seems to be the name of the game with a lot of folks. I prefer to pre-emptively spread positive things and tasty recipes. I think we will be good this year.

- LandlordTom

Rhetorical or not, the answer is NOPE
I am very confident they have the right coach to bring youngins along at a reasonable pace and adjust each accordingly.

Jost vs VO
Bryson vs Stillman
UPL vs Comrie

Do any of these feel good? Guess it kicks up a notch next year, but these 'battles' feel pretty lame to me.

- Lunaion

They aren't as cool as Kulich vs Jost or Benson vs Olofsson, but it is a positive sign. Most years we had a bunch of nobodies in the bottom6, battling AHL lifers for spots. Now, I see fringe NHLers battling other fringe NHLers. Next year it'll be fringe NHLers against blue chip prospects. The battles will only get better.
