If they miss the playoffs because of bad defense or bad penalty killing it ultimately will fall on Granato. We can debate Adam's moves or lack thereof (and I'm not saying he wouldn't deserve plenty of blame) but you ultimately have 2 #1 overall picks and 4-5 1st rounders on that defense, it should be serviceable. Donnie has shown he can unlock the offense especially of players that Krueger suffocated, but all gas and no brakes isn't sustainable

This is the main reason why I don't want to trade UPL or Comrie to the lightning. We're competing with them for that spot and last thing I want to do is give them the goalie that helps them stay afloat in October, especially for the miniscule return they would bring. I'd rather keep 3 at that point.

Well said, regardless of outcome I see 0 changes to coaching or front office in the next few years. I also don't think any outcome this season will create significant roster moves.

Ans: Not long. I can see a lot of mixing and matching going on rather than more traditional set lines.

2. does the pk get better
Ans: Yes, might take some time. I do think EJ and Cliffy help improve it. Also, Could we see some surprise appearances by Benson...would be cool to see him pressure the the top at the blueline.

3. does the d start to play any type of system.
Ans: 2 things, IMO needs to be embraced by the F's coming back...they need a commitment like how Tampa transformed itself after the CBJ took them down 4-5 years ago. And, the D need to clear the damn front of the net and tie up the sticks if they have difficulty clearing them out. It is so damn obvious it anoys me to no end.

4. goalies
Ans: An issue for sure. I love Levi...kid has the right attitude and he is lightning quick. Yet, the book has yet to be written on him. Bigger question for me is can Bales help him out?
Which brings back the question of the Asst Coaching Staff ... it should have been overhauled IMO.

Agreed 100%. It would take a monumental collapse for Donnie G or Adams to be fired, and honestly it's probably (hopefully) the right move overall. Consistency in direction and in coaching is a good thing. The problem is if you're consistently poopty that's not good either. But 50% of teams make the playoffs, so you just need to be above average. They should be able to do it. Should.
