Fwiw Adams does indeed make the final decisions on the 23:

"Granato reiterated to reporters following the morning skate Wednesday that he remains confident in each of the three goalies and that he would be comfortable if Adams chose to have them occupy three of his 23 roster spots."

- Hank Balling

Nice, 23 of "His" roster spots. Maybe Donnie needs to throw Adams threw the Table instead slapping it to get that extra forward or D.

Until the Sabres commit fully to consistently working hard defensively every game, who is in goal each game will almost be immaterial.

>>>My observations from Columbus: The Sabres' situation in goal remains uncertain after their struggles around Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen tonight.

Naturally, UPL said there's pressure at this stage of camp, but ...

Good example of having too many players fighting for one position.....
- washedup20

It's kind of the one situation where it's most impactful though. With goalies, you play all or you don't. No in between. A forward can sit a game then work back into the lineup, with low minutes to start, earning more as they go. Being that goalies need to play to get better and even stay sharp, it's a little counterintuitive to expect UPL to be better with no work.

Don't think inside the box of traditional hockey, Adams is revolutionizing the game. Each goalie will play 1 period, so opponents cannot gain an advantage by shooting to a specific known weak spot to often.

It's brilliant.

This is how I feel for the most part. They need to become the 2nd iteration of The Hardest Working Team that did so well in the Peca era.

Playing disciplined hockey, especially with gifted offensive players will likely serve to help this team realize its' goals. Playing lackadaisically coming back and in their own end will only serve to decrease their success.

Having a guy like Benson added to the team with his relentless style of play will have a positive impact. Adding another player with the same relentless style (Savoie) will add more than the risk of playing a rookie typically would.
The two could also enhance that style for a couple of other players to embrace...Cozens, Tage, Greenway, Krebs, Jost.

This is one of the reason I would love to see the youngins play this season rather than wasting time away with Olo and others.

Technically 3 - 1st overall picks on D with Erik Johnson on the team.
- Lilroot9

yeah but I do not feel he is capable of playing near that level now so I left that off the rant

I would have thought that the GM gives the coach a training camp roster and then the coach picks the team but I guess not

GM picks the roster, coach is in charge of lines, usage......I think. (that's how it was portrayed in moneyball, that's my DD)

Savoie not practicing yet.

Keep him on the roster until cuts have to be made.

Send him down to Roch for conditioning.

If he does good ….. maybe get him in for an NHL game just to see. But due to the injury his time has passed for trying to be here full time.

Benson is getting what would’ve been the Savoie treatment for this preseason

Adams and Granato work together on the roster. It isn’t just Adams ship. It’s a team effort.

He got the idea from watching the mighty ducks when on the final shot of the shootout Gordon swapped goalies for the goal clinching save by Julie gaffney with her superb glove hand.

Yes Kevin, in your mind you have 3 NHL goalies and it's not ideal. I suppose someone gets it. Are they NHL goalies that are NHL ready? Why rush Levi and why promote UPL when neither has proven anything to this point? If the confidence in this pair is so high why have Comrie in the mix period? UPL should be in the AHL for sure and Levi would gain a lot by at least playing some time in the AHL with him. Comrie would be a good backup to a goalie KA could have signed and there's more than one.
Something tells me KA made some promises to some young goalie just to get him signed. Could Levi be Andrew Raycroft, Spencer Knight or the Dom.

I felt this way yesterday. Granato has control of the day to day roster decisions but Adams has the ultimate say on who's in that room. That's not to say that the entire management team with Don and his coaches have their input.

Which begs the question: if you have 3 NHL goalies, why do you need 3 NHL goalies? Carrying 3 is admitting that you don't believe in your goalies

Simple way to settle this: Beyond blue and gold episode modeled after Chopped. UPL and Comrie both cook dinner for Terry, Adams and Granato.

I think Benson’s prospect value is definitely higher than Savoie. I can agree with that

I just think due to age, Savoie being 19, and a little bit more fine tuned. He would’ve gotten a shot.

Savoie going back for his 4th junior year I believe makes little to no sense from a development point of view

Benson prior to his good preseason. If we sent him back. No one would have thought twice about it.

Apparently but I heard he had girgs practicing his lasso skills in case one of the purse swingers get caught in the corner.

Have they said how bad his injury is? Has he practiced at all? That injury opened the window for benson and he stepped through it.
