Right. If they need to carry Comrie because UPL looks bad then why carry UPL at all?

Hopefully he looks good tonight. He has a full d group in front of him

Well E. Johnson is out, he already has a lower body injury or flare up.

So it begins. Ryan Johnson might be better than EJ at this point anyway.

Could be, thought Johnson would atleast make it a few months, not 3 days.

Have you watched the league getting younger. Humans don’t reverse the aging process, the only explanation is an influx of younger players.
- IonSabres

I've also seen a total of 7 players picked after Rosen in 2021 play any games in the NHL and 4 of them played less than 5 games. Only 5 players from the 2022 draft have played any NHL games and most of them were 5 or less games. So either most teams are as poopty as we are or maybe kids take time to develop.

Kids take time, didn’t dispute that.
Generally speaking …
1, 2 years of Pro play for 1st rounders …exceptions are those who are picked higher
2 -3 years for others, late rounds 4…and some take longer.

Point is, there are more younger players making it faster than say 5, -10 years ago.

You are seeing a lot of 1st rounders for the Sabres and some earlier 2nd rounders

A little deceptive there. 11 of 12 players picked before him have played. This is the year you expect him to make an NHL contribution.

Idk, the offseason was Clifton and Johnson.

What exactly are they doing for the NHL roster?

Would also say that the longer it takes, the less chance they have of becoming an impact player.

And that's a little deceptive as only 3 players picked after him have played more than 9 games. His draft was weak, we knew that going in, and he was touted as a project. Given his weight and strength, he's developing according to schedule IMO.

No way to tell. I don't know what they want. I'd just be surprised to hear that they were just screaming into the void and staying, that pair could certainly find employment elsewhere.

Cole Sillinger and Kent Johnson would have to disagree.

(sorry I'm picking on you today lol, this isn't intentional)

I’d think Kulich is worth more today after blitzing the AHL at 18 then he was when he was passed over by 26 teams in the NHL draft two years ago.

But that’s just me

It's the other half of the picture. Should expect him to make a contribution this season, I stand by that.

Lol I know you can my friend.

Just pointing out that it's a crap shoot. Those two were taken in the same draft, by the same team, the top10 pick took an extra year and yet is far better. I think it's just similar with draft classes as a whole, where you can't just slap an ETA based on where a guy is picked, that's all.

I suppose the draft and rush offense. As far as off season goes, given the limited activity the proof is not signing someone like korpisalo idk. Clifton could be decent. It’s not going to be like the old days where you rob the isles blind for Devon toews, cause everyone has an analytics department now. But in general I refuse to believe Ventura, Karmanos and the others don’t have something resembling a blueprint for this team

And they're here. Quinn is here, Peterka, power, Samuelson. All of them are young and in the league. Benson/Savoie might have games in the league this year. Kulich might even get a few games depending on how things go. We have plenty of youth that is on the team after a year or two of development and others take time.

There's more to it than that, of course. Was no secret that Rosen was going to take a little more time. If you were going to put an ETA on him, it was was probably another half season in the AHL. If he doesn't make the team next summer, I'd think his odds of ever becoming an impact player have diminished greatly.

He was drafted 28th, so teams are willing to pay a 27 or lower 1st for him, how low would you guess?

Does Rosen get you 14OA?

Does Savoie get you 9OA?

Does Ostlund get you 16OA?

I’ve taken enough next year drug today so for the sake of simplicity, this is based off of today.

A top 10 pick for Savoie would surprise me, I don’t know anything about Ostlund so I’ll take your word for it.

Agreed on Rosen, I don’t think he even fetches a late 1st anymore.

Kulich I could see a GM move a late 1st round pick. I don’t think anyone would move a top 20 pick for him though.

I'd say Rosen + Savoie have dropped 100%. ie. Rosen for a 28th, Savoie for an 18th. Ostlund closer to 50%. Kulich up 25%.
