So they want next year's team full of rookies? This is a strange team to figure out.

doubt it

between joker, girgens, okposo, jost, casey, olofsson, krebs

of those 7, I would not be shocked if 5 or 6 are brought back

- homiedclown

Seems a little high, but there's certainly a chance that they don't like all of these prospects as much as we think.

Rosen really needs to make a dent this year.

Thought Rosen's game got better, his 200ft game has improved. Just needs to start going to Dinosaur Barbecue and put on some weight.

Nobody talking about what a huge game tonight is for UPL. He is fighting for his life right now. If he stinks again, I think they role with 3 goalies because they don't want to give up on UPL and Comrie is insurance in case UPL really does stink.

If they role with 3 goalies, i think Bryson is toast. We already know who the starting 6 are. Throw in Stillman as your #7.

Oloffson is also playing for his life right now too. It's no secret that he's not part of the Sabres future and the only reason he is still here is because of Quinn's injury. He is an insurance policy like Comrie. Olofsson has to show up when playing with Cozens on line 2. If he doesn't show something, does that open up a spot for Biro assuming he plays great again? Biro will probably get claimed if he goes on waivers, Olo not. Or perhaps Savoie slots into Quinn's spot after a rehab stint in Rochester?

I think tonight has huge ramifications for Benson, UPL, Olo and Bryson (even though he's not playing). RJ is headed for Rochester with 1st call up on D.

- SabreWest

How big is it for UPL if he's on the team either way?

He's been so inconsistent, I don't think we learn anything about him either way tonight.

They would probably want a max of 1 or 2 rookies at any given time in the next few years, using them as cheaper depth players with the new Tage and Cozens deals and (presumably) upcoming Dahlin and Power deals. I would also expect at least one of them (Kulich, Ostlund, Rosen) traded within the next year or two.

Peterka had his growing pains last year and Donnie was talking about how important this off-season was for him with the WC and training. They like JJ and for Kulich or Rosen to take that spot was going to require them to play at a godly level. Peterka's spot is set.

I also don't think they want this team to be full of rookies again, generally those teams struggle. Last year they threw Peterka, Quinn, and Power in and each had ups and downs that you get with rookies. This year they want to make the playoffs and leave those guys in the minors to develop and go through those ups and downs in the AHL. If they get hot they'll come up and if they cool they'll go back down. Standard NHL practice

- Zschalberg

So, then next season when they should be heel bent for leather to qualify as high as possible in their Division, that is the season to introduce
Savoie, Benson, Kulich, Rousek, Rosen, Johnson
to the NHL?

I'm missing the logic.

With the number of recent 1st's, I can't see how that works.

We just continue to say these things like they are happening and they never do.

Dahlin was a done deal by July, remember?

Sabres were going to make a hockey trade, remember?

They have no direction

Right. If they need to carry Comrie because UPL looks bad then why carry UPL at all?

Hopefully he looks good tonight. He has a full d group in front of him

Ehh I don’t think that’s true. Too many smart ppl there now for them to have no direction. I think it’s just a boring one. I say this independent of the dahlin contract though.

Being worried about waivers and at least a little unsure about Levi as a starter aren't great reasons, but here we are.

Holding out a little hope for a trade.

It would be disappointing for any of them not to make the team next summer.

That said, good chance at least 1 does disappoint.

My money is still on Benson in the lineup and the extras as Comrie/UPL, Jost and Stillman.

I dont think they're confident enough in their goalie assements to make a trade

These kids are 18, 19, 20 and people are mad they aren't all playing. NHL players take time. You would think being fans of a team that has had nothing but draft picks for a decade+ would figure that out by now.

Most should be ready, and there maybe a surprise.
Who knows.

How long do you suspect they should keep the likes of these stellar producers and play drivers in the Forward ranks

It's a good bet.

I think Tokarski + Cooley gives them the option to make a move.

I'm going to be reserved on Benson's chances for another day. Would obviously love to see him play over VO. It's just way too easy to imagine KA telling us how much they like Bryson and how hard VO works. It's PTSD at this point.

Have you watched the league getting younger. Humans don’t reverse the aging process, the only explanation is an influx of younger players.

If you're in front of a full complement of incompetent defenders...is that helpful or harmful?
