The reason I made the comment was because people on the outside think he's doing better than the people on the inside, as in us.

Why do you suppose that is?

- TheSabresTaco

they didn't watch the preds, bruins or stars light us up in the last month of the season

I see now where the confusion was.

I see that you were referencing the Devils, from the comment, and I was addressing the Senators, where the comment was derived from.

My mistake.

Draft hype is real, outsiders value draft position...which is dumb. The NHL success is from players acquired by the #9 ranked GM.

So these particular games, only Sabres fans saw a bad couple weeks from the team? And then we said it should be reflective of his three year tenure that they died for a few weeks?

So NHL fans, who pay money to subscribe to The Athletic, can't look past the draft to determine whether a team is constructing their franchise?

Also, I gotta know, are you a Botterill stan

when you have tage, skinner, tuch, cozens up front

2 stud d men picked 1 overall in dahlin and power

hopefully a young goalie

and well over a decade since a playoff game

you need to do better with your assets instead of slow playing this team into trying to become a cup contender

While it certainly wasn't an instance here, there have been conversations by some on this very board about how the Sens and Wings "greatly improved" by adding mid to low tier free agents and have gotten absolutely nothing out of it. That still irks me.

Post a positive outlook on the team and it goes to hell in a handbasket

This org won't admit it publicly but if this is the roster Kevo wants to carry into the season, they need to be demanding playoffs. They are absolutely developed enough to get there.

Granato contorted like a gymnast to avoid the "is the playoffs the expecation" and I don't see a reason why other than to give himself and the org a cushion if they fail.

Adams has drafted in the 1st round 7 times in the last 3 years, 2 players have made the NHL roster, including a #1OA.

1 player has made the NHL roster that was drafted outside the 1st round since Adams began drafting for the Sabres.

I think fans enjoy how many press conferences Adams has, people read headlines and make judgements, yes even people who pay for the athletic.

I consider Girgensons and Okposo as fine, whatever. Jost and Stillman, sure.

I was in the minority in being against the Greenway trade, but if he becomes what they think he can, I think he's a very useful utility forward. He has the ability to be what Girgensons should have been, or was intended to be I suppose.

Erik Johnson, I don't know what to expect, I like the leadership but it's not worth over 3 million dollars. I don't get that move.

What if the opposite happens? Does the constant negativity and sh!tty jokes go away?

I doubt it.

So its right about the time for these players to start joining the fold? It is the NHL not the NFL

Tough to answer. Was there major injuries? Was it due to players taking a step back. Was it because our D/goalies got worse?

Its really not that simple

we had the cap space and assets to do better and try to make a push for a deep run instead of sneaking into 8th place

is that too much to ask for when you have
tage, skinner, tuch, cozens, casey, dahlin, power, etc?

I mean our core of those 7 is as good on paper as any team, it's the chemistry and other 13 spots leading to our extended playoff failures

and perhaps blah coaching

His 2020 draft has seen full time roles for his first two picks ever.

The rest are late rounders.

2021, outside of Power, you have a Russian tied to the KHL for 4 years, a project KHL to AHL kid and the rest are later picks.

2022 is too early.

This is incredibly standard for the entire league. I don't understand the criticism here. Mid to late rounders usually take several years. We know this.

Narcolepsy had his moments, I see him on the same teir as Adams. They both lack vision.
