How's everyone's thoughts on the Atlantic Division. Where do the Sabres land. Have they done enough to take that next step ?
- Buff36

I think Florida (injuries to start the year) and Boston (Zacha as 1C) have serious question marks.

Detroit built the most average roster of all time.

Ottawa is good but I still donโ€™t think they are as good as Buffalo but it will be tight.

I say 4th in the Atlantic with a shot at top 3.

I wonโ€™t count Tampa out until I see it with my eyes but they struggled down the stretch and all good things must come to and end eventually

I think there is a legitimate argument that the Sabres core four (Tage, Cozens, Tuch, Skinner) can be as good as Torontoโ€™s (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares) as soon as this season.

Dahlin/Power/Samuelsson can be one of the lethal 1-3 d-men in the entire league as early as this season.

anywhere from 5th to 7th in the division

unless big injuries hit the bruins, leafs, panthers or bolts there is no chance of the sabres passing them unless levi is the next ken dryden

- homiedclown

I see them around 4th or 5th depending on there Goaltending and what kind of D System they implement. If they get even League Average they could finish Higher. They do need the youngins to keep progressing and for Clifton to be able to step up his roll or they could take a step back. IMO

I would like to get better than Samuelsson as are 3, think Dahlin helped him more than people are giving credit.

Samuelsson is also 23 years old and has exhibited top 4 qualities.

Far from a finished product, and his style of complements both Dahlin and Power

Nope. There are no reasons for optimism. There is no way the league's youngest roster last year will grow and be better this year. We are screwed. All our players peaked last year and we have nothing coming up through the pipeline that has value.

82 points, max. End of discussion. Maybe by next summer Adams' outboard boat motor will be fixed.

Yes he is young and never said he couldn't grow, his metrics aren't fabulous. Doesn't mean you can't find better and make your D core better by dropping him down to the 2nd pair.

Toronto
Florida
Bolts
Bruins
Sabres
Senators/Red Wings
Red Wings/Senators
Canadians

Leaves them fighting for the 2nd Wildcard with far to many teams...Rangers, Penguins, Blue Jackets, Isles, Caps...odds say it is too much to overcome unless everything goes right.

IMO depends on the team playing a far more responsible system defensively to reduce the quantity and quality of shot against. The have to find a way to protect their net without sacrificing too many Goals For.

Yes cause I say there won't be any individual improvement or growth through the year from the youngins all the time. There's a difference between wanting to bring in a player to try and improve the roster and saying stuff about it then young players development. Just because I think Girgensons was a waste of 2.5mill and could have been replaced doesn't say anything about young players developing.
