Is it valid on the players he has picked or the bad coaching that has ended some seasons.
- Buff36

That's a good question. Bit of both maybe? I'm just not sure it changes things as McD wasn't ever so bad he was ruining careers or something like that, which would, at least to some extent, excuse a lackluster drafting record over the past few years.

13 Seconds, That Egg against Cincinnati. Might not have ruined careers, but maybe a SB chance for some of the Older players.

Take 2018, with Allen, out of the equation and we bottom out though.

Class CAVOE by year:
2018: 54.1
2019: 14.3
2020: 5.1
2021: 1.6

So it is a valid opinion to say he's gotten steadily worse at drafting and is now right around average at best.

13 seconds could apply there. And winning a SB would quiet any peeps from me about drafting...not that it would be better, I just frankly wouldn't care.

But with the Bengals, we just got housed both times though. Was that due to gameplan? Seemed like we didn't have a good enough roster to compete.

Beane absolutely needs to get better with his 1st and 2nd rnd Draft picks, especially if he wants to keep the window open longer. He has lived on later Round picks hitting, really be in a world of hurt if he hadn't draft wise. But he has built a Power House the last 3yrs and they will be very good this year again because of the Players Beane has drafted or brought in. There's a lot of Talent on the Bills, hell a lot of there Backups on D would start for most teams.

Hardest position to draft for and he nailed it. Believe me, I get it, I'm not calling him the worst GM ever or some craziness. Just pointing out that since that famed day, he's fallen off a bit more each year.

Too early to tell, but think he did better this year.

A decimated offensive line and we got 3 QB hits. That doesn't scream "this team would've won but got outcoached", to me.

we kicked a field goal to start the second half and was down by 7

bengals march down the field 12 play drive that killed most of the clock left in the 3rd quarter to go up 14
dinked and dunked down the field as our db's played 10 to 15 yards off the wrs

bills respond with a 3 and out and punt on 4th and 2

I don't think 1st round has been an issue at all.

It's been his day 2 picks the last couple years that haven't panned out

He's gotten

Diggs
Allen
Oliver
Russeau
Kincaid
Elam
Edmunds

With our first rounders.

How is that remotely bad?

Agreed with all, except the fact that our team being inferior wasn't a large part of that. We came out flat and got jumped on early by a team that wanted it more, that's not on the coaches, players have to prepare or simply be better.

with miller out

the strength of the bills d was their starting cb's, who were told to play 10 to 15 yards off the wr's by the coaches though

players can't make plays if coaches have them out of position

the worst part is that was their same game plan when hamlin got hurt a few weeks earlier and was not working

You have to back off when you aren't getting pressure though. We were trying a 5 man rush to crack the code and even that didn't work. Our defense playing press coverage well is predicated upon our ability to pressure the QB...we didn't, so we lost big and nothing we tried was working. Can't be mad at the coaches if the players can't execute against backup O-lineman.

Elam almost got cut, Basham got traded, Espenza was on the block. There's a few Olineman that could be thrown in there for 2nd rnd picks. Oliver is good, but I would like better for where he was picked. Beane has hit and he has missed, and he is most likely picking at the end of the rnd to so that leaves its own ? Marks on picks. Beane knows what he's doing, Bills are a power house especially if that Oline comes together.

Spector going to Short-term IR. Sounds like Kirksey could be making a visit on Thursday. Spector goes on IR officially tomorrow and that could open a spot for Kirksey.

These are day two picks. Not round 1.

His day 2 picks have been bad. Everywhere else he’s gotten pretty good results

It’s called the nfl draft. All gms have hits and misses.

Relax. It will be okay. Beane has done an excellent job overall.
