As reasonable as saying he sucks because Boston didn’t have the cap to afford him ?

For PWWTBH™️ and actually
Like this city and org he fits.

And he was a damn good player.

You find a role for him, IMO.

- ImThatGuy

I mean no contention, simply to understand the logic en masse.

Just because Vanek was a good player makes him a good scout? Or worthy to supplant what the Sabres currently have? Looks like he's going to be a regional high school scout in Minny.

Why did Adam Mair, Mike Weber, Tim Kennedy get poop for getting hired to coach?

It's obvious the bias is there because Peca and Vanek were beloved and/or talented. But their talent beyond their playing days may not exceed (or may) what the Sabres already have employed. Former player or not.

If it was a as big of problem as you make it to be. Theres 30 other owners... that dont think it to be.
- DirtyDan

It's the reason two teams have won three cups, it's definitely a huge issue. The owners discussed it and the NHL has sent warnings. It'll be made illegal as soon as a small market team like the Sabres try it, you can book that. It's like tanking, was all good for the Caps and Pens, but God forbid the Sabres get a leg up over everyone else! RULE CHANGGGGGE!

Peca hired by the Rangers
Drury GM of the Rangers
Brierie GM of the Flyers
Grier GM of the Sharks
Vanek scout for the Sharks

I understand your narrative, except the Sabres organization while the players you named were employeed was one of the worst organizations in league history. There was a really good chance hiring those guys could've improved on what a waitress was doing.

Mark Stone 2 back surgeries. but yeah he was just faking it

- DirtyDan

2 back surgeries and he just magically got better the day playoffs started? It just so happened the $7.25M they needed to not have to make a trade coincided with his becoming healthy? Crazy coincidence?

I have so many bridges to sell lol

I still don't know if we're chastising the Sabres for employing former players, or not employing former players
- TheSabresTaco

I'm a Vanek stan so the former

I'm curious to see what he gets for Coture and where he lands. I don't hate what he's done, I wonder if his plan is a 13 year rebuild as well.

You used this same logic to criticize Taylor Hall a few weeks ago.

He said about a month back on ATE that he was going to get back in the game.

One of the only teams he didn’t hear from for a job offer….the Buffalo Sabres.

I wonder if there is ever going to be a sports book written that explains how a billionaire bought a team and let a waitress run it.

If Karlsson is any indication, he won't get a ton.

Will Smith and Musty are a good couple picks, but yeah...gonna be a long time coming it looks like. Does Hertl finally get moved too?

In saying all this, I don't need to find a role for Thomas Vanek. I think it's feel good story and beyond that, I don't need it.

Kim being a President of PSE has little/nothing to do with the hirings above. Drury was blocked, Briere was blocked, Grier wasn't sought, and Vanek is a scout. All of these men have won as much as the Sabres in non-player roles.

I loved Crunch as coach, and I thought they should make room for him in the Sabres room. I don't know why they didn't. I don't know what that means on the stat sheet.

Jeezus, I just looked at the Sharks' Capfriendly...

They're still paying Vlasic $7M for 3 more years and Karlsson's $1.5M for another 4. And their pipeline looks sparse. Eklund, Bordeleau and Muk are their only "close" guys and none are lighting the minors up.

Mike should give his old friend Darcy a call, an announcement to the fans about suffering is in order.

No, you bagged Adams for getting Bjork and a second rounder for Hall with a NMC.

Then turned around and said it was good business for Boston to clear Hall’s salary for nothing.

Adams got a lot of hate due to a player exercising his leverage.

Taylor Hall is a good hockey player even though he was cap dump, just like Connor Clifton is a good player despite being a cap dump.

I am all in favor in hiring former Sabres. I am all in favor in hiring former non-Sabres players.

I am all in favor of making winning hires, and I don't give a poop if your name is (frank) mc(frank)ity(frank). Just win.
