Adams is obviously hoping that the internal growth of the team and the youth takes the next step and it pushes them into the playoffs. He's definitely gambling on his plan working on the moves that were made.

Thats more speculation than anything else at this point.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

- Swedish_Jesus

Until they trade him, this is more a fact than anything.

You cannot have him sitting on the bench making what he makes, and expect to be able to get anything at all for him in a trade.

You either trade him before the season, or he plays

They were scratching Olofsson already this past season.

I expect it to be a rotation at this point.

We’ll see how training camp unfolds and how Kulich/Rousek/Savoie do to put their stamp on that spot.

Banking on UPL/Comrie to supplement Levi is what is surprising me the most and I think is the biggest risk.

I'd give the goalies the same "NHL" treatment. Don't think any of them are proven NHL commodities.

I'd love to make a wager on the phenom Levi.

Of course you won't

it appears they're gambling on their internal ability to improve as their biggest "addition"

it's been a theme for the past 3 years.

agree with the mindset or not, it's true.

- TheSabresTaco

Why gamble though?

Why not supplement the growth and help it along?

I see why the 3 Larry's were brought back. I know Wash-o will tell me to pound sand, but those guys coming here doesn't block anyone in the org.

I think they want to see Kulich, Rousek, Savoie and Benson fight. None of those guys are taking those kind of minutes that Z and Kyle are taking.

I would listen to an argument about the necessity of Jost, but the other two have their uses, none of which the prospects can fulfill.

And you're absolutely right, I have many of the same questions that most of you have. As stated above.

- TheSabresTaco

There were other (better) veteran options worth exploring vs locking those guys up prior to FA. Adams played it safe. No other GM was signing Okposo, and Girgs would’ve signed a 1 year deal for less elsewhere.

How many of these prospects are competing for the 3rd line? Only 1 will replace Skinner in a few years. Who in the existing core are these prospects going to push down or out?

How would you approach the problem of a bloated top 9 prospect group and 0 depth prospects?

I trust the process, its very slow in the nhl (rebuilds) generally speaking. Unlike the nfl.

Slow and steady is about to pay off.

Curious to see how they handle preseason games. Think we all know how lopsided they are. If VO gets the typical home/vet games, and the kids get the road games, it's a tilted competition. VO also thrives on preseason game pace.

Also curious how this applies to the goalies. Who gets thrown to the wolves this year?

With the Quinn injury, he plays, none of those 3 are going to unseat him, the franchise has shown under Adams they will keep players in the minors for "development" purposes.

Hope so Boss, asking a lot especially after the growth that happened last year. Hurts when a player you were hoping moves you in that direction gets hurt before the season starts.

Let's be realistic, how many goals would Quinn have before his injury healed in January?

Maybe 10?

Glad it's not one of the top line guys or cozens, or the big 3 on defense.

Quinn's injury changes little IMO.

As for a levi wager, starts and/ or wins seems like a fun betting experience.

I won't. No interest in betting against a Sabre, especially one as pivotal as him. As much hate as you had for Sam, did you really root for him to fail? I like Levi, so no chance I go there.

Just don't love seeing them preach patience and development, then throwing him into this situation. History says this is way too much to ask.

Caps offered girgensons the wilson contract back in may. He said no and wanted to remain a buffalo sabre.

Nice try washed....

In what sense Boss?

I think it opens a major hole both short term, and long term for the team and Quinn's development.

They were expecting bigger things from Quinn this year. If I had to guess they were expecting a 55-60 point season from him.

Him being injured for half the year not only puts his development behind, it opens a spot in the top 6.

I’m just tired of the excuses. No Playoffs last year was inexcusable

No playoffs this year is worthy of Adams losing his job

The Seattle Kraken are a playoff team already just by simply selecting a team of average to slightly above average players and making a few nice trades

Adams *literally walked into a team* with Dahlin, Tage, Cozens, Mitts, Skinner and can’t figure out goaltending and D depth.

The fact people say he’s been a really good GM so far blows my mind and those people have lost the plot

- sbroads24

what I do not get

and not 1 single person who thinks we are crying, has had an honest answer to this simple question

WHY WAIT?

you have 25 plus prospects

4/6 of your top 6 set for a few years

your top 2 d men set

WHY WAIT

your pk needs issues, you have no real third line like staal and fast

WHY WAIT

you have an unknown rookie that played well in college to go with a journeyman in net with blah numbers and a young guy with a bum hip and blah numbers

WHY WAIT

quinn is going to be out for most of the year

WHY WAIT

I really like Samuelsson as an 18 minute a night shut down d man

problem is we have no legit 22 minute guy to play with dahlin or power

WHY WAIT

for those that say the market is slow for trading, you have all these extra pieces to change that market if needed, throw a sweetener in, if your doing the homework and know what you need

WHY WAIT

all I see is a 4th line replacement for girgens in greenway but the gm did not have the heart to follow up and let girgens walk

a replacement for a 7th d man in bryson with stillman

a bottom pair replacement for bush in clifton

and an overpaid vibes locker room guy in johnson, who colorado did not want to keep

WHY WAIT

Nice dodge. Did you root against him as a Sabre?

Would you bet against Girgs, if I were adamant he'd break through and put up 20 points this year?

Crazy talk. He was one of the players supposed to take a giant leap this season.

It's a huge loss
