What makes you think that this a one way street. Maybe the Sabres continue on the upswing and maybe the others aren't as good.

Perhaps the BOARD should wait and see what happens when it happens. Such negativity all the time is counterproductive for the soul.

I tried eternal optimism for a decade and ended up addicted to alcohol and methamphetamines. Trying a different approach this time around with sobriety and pessimism.

Is the NHL now gifting playoff positions based on last year's points and offseason doings or not doings?

I guess I could just read the same arguments ad nauseum until the 24 TDL but I figured I'd hop in the fray as I'm sick of work.

They will have their 1C back, and you could argue addition by subtraction, getting the cat out of the room will vibes them into the same middling area as the Sabres.

It's a real possibility their veteran goalie will play more consistently, giving them a better chance than the Sabres as well, I have no clue though.

Norris is 2C no? Either way, Norris is a wounded duck, has he even broken 60 games yet?

I get his return might help, but with Kubalik and Tarasenko, I think they lose offense. Whether the vibe train pulls into the station or not will be the question...the vibe train is jammin right now.

Edit: Yes, 66. But 56 the other year, 8 this last year...and we say Quinn is fragile. I only say that as he's been MIA a lot.

I didn’t know Norris was such a band-aid, making his return moot.

The Sabres are expected to regress offensively as well, so a blind toss up for both.

They are not at the top of my list of competitive concerns….but they are not at the bottom.

Anderson’s season was a tale of two stories.

First half he was arguably a top 15 goalie, then the age caught up and he was just as bad if not worse then Comrie and UPL down the stretch and ended up finishing with negative goals saved above expected by the end of it all.

If Levi is strictly average, heck even slightly below average the goaltending is miles better than last year.

The Sabres got the worst goaltending in the league by a fair margin from January on and were still playing meaningful games in April.

And yes, that’s also considering the defensive albatross in front of them.

You're a little harsh with Anderson. March was his only bad month. Not sure what site you're using, but hockey reference has him at +2.8 GSAA for the season.

I don't expect consistency out of Levi, if he plays the full season in Buffalo.

It isn't that he's moot, just unlikely he plays a full season. Getting him back will help, I just don't think it will be as big of an affect/he may very well simply get injured again.

Which Sabres are you most concerned about regressing?

The only player I see surpassing their goal totals from last year is Peterka

VO, Skinner, Tuch. All over 27 coming off abnormally high shooting %'s.

That's interesting. I'll have to take a look at the roster.

Dahlin definitely could score more goals , same for power IMO

I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for this team to defend better and get better goaltending at 5v5 next season that outweighs any scoring regression they face.

Vegas finished 14th in goals scored amongst teams in the regular season this past year.

I don’t see why a team that features Tage, Skinner, Tuch, Cozens, Mitts, Peterka, Dahlin and Power can’t be a top 10 scoring team next season even if they regress.
