The meat of the list is fine . For starters....Hedman on there twice..As for quality....Where is Sergachev and Carlson ??? Spurgeon....seriously ....he wouldn't make my top 50. Neither would Pelech. I'd rather pick Luke Hughes over either of them in a heartbeat..... Chychrun, M.Rielly ?

The bigger problem is lots of them are more than 6 ft tall and weigh over 200 lbs which was the whole point of the exercise.

- jetsnation

Reilly can’t defend, and Chychrun was the last cut along with Pulock. Sergachev is overrated for me, and Carlson is cooked as an elite D.
I knew I would list someone twice. Make it a Chychrun for second Hedman.

Worth noting, Spurgeon has a better argument for top 5 vs top 50

Enstrom....lol.....nice one !
So...you found a handful of high-end defencemen that were undersized.
Thanks for wasting everyone's time on this.

Dude I don’t know what you wanted. Should I break down what I like about each player, and how their physicality is very rarely a factor to their success?

Please don't break down anything further as your opinions on players do not interest me.

Your list proves you wrong with regards to size.

WEIGHT - 8 players under the 195 mark. Another 5 between 195-199.
HEIGHT - 4 players under the 6 foot mark.

Vast majority of "your" Top 30 are at least 6 feet tall and 195 pounds.
Exceptions - Makar, Fox, Hughes, and Spurgeon.

This was a good list Rexy. I would love for you to break down reasons for picking each. It would be great to understand your perspectives a tad better.

Hard pass on this....despite your attempt to try and subtly draw out his continually flawed biases.

And at absolute most 5 on that list would drop out if you took off 3 inches and 15lbs.

That goes double because a lot of the elite guys tend to do far less on the defensive side than the offensive side of things. Not hitting or leaning on a lot of folk when you constantly have the puck.

If you want a list of pure shutdown defencemen, you’ll probably find they skew to the smaller side more than the average. DeMelo, Siegenthaler, Middleton, Brodin, etc. Samberg and Dillon make it for me, though.

Same. On vacation for next 10 days. I just like to see people own up to being wrong on something ( which the facts clearly demonstrate in this particular case) rather than trying to continue to defend.

The goal would be to combine the offensive skill of 2010 with the defensive skill of 2017. Then add functioning knees.

I’m gonna buy you a beer one day. And make sure it’s in a can so you can’t break it over my head when I get into how Hainsey carried Bogo
