His contributions (meaningful ones) to the roster so far in now 4 offseasons

Tuch
Krebs
Levi
Power (won a lottery)
Clifton
Quinn (might miss the entire year)
Peterka

Considering he had to trade out a cup winning franchise C, an over rated RD, and a star winger to get 3/4 of the above you think this is “incredible”??

Do you know how hard you have to screw up to not have a “bright future” when you literally never make the playoffs and are always drafting high?

I absolutely agree the future is bright, but Adams having the number of cult members he does already is jaw dropping

The three stars he inherited in Tage, Cozens, and Dahlin are about to be signed long term for a combined cap hit of ~$25M

Leafs fans are in shambles trying to figure out how to fit the big 4 alone under the salary cap.

What a time to be alive

Leafs fans will see playoff hockey again this season. Will the Sabres?

I don’t care about any year but this year. I’ve penciled in fake future lineups too many years in a row.

I’m confident in the roster.

Could it use improvements ? Absolutely.

I don’t understand the extreme pessimism though.

This is a team that finished one point out of a playoff spot and was one of the hottest teams in the league outside of Florida down the stretch.

Who’s to say they don’t make the playoffs ?

not replacing quinn

adding a few bottom feeder d men

the only real hope for roster upgrade is the kids and banking on career years from 5 guys to repeat themselves

Yes there are some great pieces. We have two huge glaring holes that Stevie wonder sees. Neither hole has a viable option in the pipeline within the next 3 years. Yet status quo. That’s the issue.

sprong had 46 points in 66 games and was plus 13

would have been a decent replacement for quinn

he signed 1 year 2 mil for wings

if adams threw 1 year 2.5 to 2.75 mil, he probably would have considered signing here

Totally agree. Wouldn’t surprise me if Levi and 6K won the William M Jennings.

Looking at even strength TOI, Connor Clifton played top 4 minutes on a team that won the most regular season games in NHL history last year.

Is he a bonafide top 4 d-man ? Who knows.

But it’s too early to say he can’t handle it either, and he’s sure as heck an upgrade over anyone not named Dahlin, Power, or Samuelsson.

This time last year the majority on here thought we were no doubt a bottom 10 roster.

The team was cooked apparently once they had the 8 game losing streak in November

Then MoneyPuck had us at 50% playoff odds around January and our old friend Iacarup nearly had a stroke going on his charade about analytics “how could we have a 50% chance of a playoff spot 8 points out of the playoffs”.

Then it was “meaningful games in March only lasted three games”.

Fast forward to April and we are still playing meaningful games and we miss out on a playoff spot cause Tuch’s skate blade was an inch over the blue line against Florida.

The fact that everyone here thinks we are pooched, gives me even more optimism about the state of the roster.

You realize we were 3 places out of a bottom 10 team right? It’s not like we were leaps and bounds better.

A lot of those surefire playoff teams from this past season also lost some juice while the non-playoff teams gained some.

The Sabres are a better team today than they were at this time last year. The Quinn injury stings, but opens up an opportunity for a Rousek/Kulich/Savoie/Rosen heck even a Benson to put their stamp on the roster.

The current construction of the roster also leads me to believe that Adams isn’t done making moves this offseason. We have 30 d-men on the roster right now.

Every day it’s the same thing on here, like the great Aaron Rodgers once spelled “R-E-L-A-X”

Is it RELAX for one year, two, three, four, five? I just want a complete NHL roster to compete in the league. Maybe next year. Your friend GMKA needs to get it out of first gear, it doesn't take 170 games of Bryson to realize it is not working.

On top of the above, while I'm a fan of both Peterka and Quinn, neither need to be automatically placed into the top 6.

Nothing wrong with looking at bringing in one or even two more higher quality options for Cozens line, as that just further strengthens the forward core if players like Peterka and Quinn are on your third line.

For those that say what about Savoie, Kulich, Benson, Rosen, etc., my reply is who gives a poop?

Are we trying to build the best team possible, or the best hopes and dreams possible?
