Why won’t Adams be that someone? The Sabres need roster talent in goal and middle six forward.

I’d be completely fine if he sacrificed 5% of the future for the greater good of ending the drought.

- sbroads24

the lack of making that 1 or 2 moves is very frustrating

IMO Adams comes off as a scared p@ssy right now

5. Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres are a team facing possible NHL relocation mostly because of the small market they’re in. The NFL’s Buffalo Bills have had a history of being in discussions for relocating, and the former team the Buffalo Brave played in the city for eight seasons before relocating in 1978.

At the end of the 2022-23 season the Sabres missed the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season. Having the longest playoff drought in NHL history isn’t going to help the Sabres’ chances of staying in the city and questionable draft selections has just made things worse.

While Buffalo still remains a hockey town a popular city for NHL relocation is nearby Hamilton in Southern Ontario. The Sabres are the third least valuable franchise making NHL relocation an attractive option for owners.

Wow, Lance Lysowski is being slightly critical for a change.

Gibson and Hart are neck and neck with saves above expected from high danger shots which is something this Sabres team have given up a lot. Well above UPL and Comrie
- Stripes77

Not all high danger chances are alike. Look at Comrie's numbers, he similarly was a quality goalie in WPG. Here, he's minced meat.

His high danger save % absolutely cratered when he got to Buffalo.

This doesn't take into account medium and low danger stats

I love this. Folks being whiny whiners in July on a hockey board is truly the low point of the offseason for me, not the lack of trades. I'd even add more points to this total for the bolded. We were the youngest team last year and these guys are going to be as hungry as Chuck the bear in Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.

strive for a cup

not limp into the 7th or 8th seed

you have dahlin, tage, tuch, skinner in their prime

window should be open to compete for a cup

What was New Jersey's excuse last year for doing so well?

You're also using months of separation to back up the Sabres experience, as if the rest of league isn't on the same trajectory.

Using age as a determining factor for team success, the average age of the last 5 winners was 28, so the Sabres have another 3 seasons before they have a chance.

Wrong, an average of 3 months of age difference for the roster gives them that much more of the needed edge to compete.

The only reason this is a ridiculous take is that teams like the Arizona Coyotes still exist. The league needs to figure out how to make all 32 franchises stable, something it seems incapable of doing.

If the NHL ever actually does figure out how to operate like a big boy operation someday, Buffalo's relocation will have to become a realistic conversation. Despite having a so-called rabid fanbase, it's still only the 28th most valuable franchise in the league. This market generates little to no extra revenue for the league, and its TV ratings are mostly meaningless.

Ask any hockey fan outside Buffalo what the single most notable thing about this franchise is, and they will tell you a 12 year playoff drought. But here, we get people who will attack other posters just for mentioning that. The standards are so low that some fans think that having any expectations of success is “whining”. Those people have broken spirits, and broken minds.

When are we supposed to whine, during the meaningful seasons over the last decade. Or because if Adams would have gotten a goalie the last couple years we probably are talking differently. Cause we probably make the playoffs last year and those youngins learn even more. Surprised there isn't more raging on the team with what has transpired.

the relocation fee Terry would have to pay is much smaller than what a new arena would cost him

probably 4 to 6 teams that would open their vault for Terry to move the Sabres there

Kansas City seems obvious to me. The NHL is not going to put a franchise in Hamilton.

Why does the NHL avoid Wisconsin?
