Just throwing this out there, but if you put UPL on the Islanders last year...what do you think his sv% rises to? Some folks have mentioned Varlamov as an upgrade, so I'm just curious, if anyone wants to venture a guess.

they were saying hart's numbers would be better so based on that logic so would 6k's
if playing in front of a better D

- homiedclown

At least we can all agree the D being better would raise all boats. I'm just curious if we can quantify it. I am of the mind UPL can probably match Varly's .913 in front of that defense. But I am sipping the Kool Aid, so figured I'd ask.

If UPL had good underlying numbers I’d agree

But even his underlying numbers were some of the worst in the league.

He had a .892 on one of, if not the, worst defensive team in the league. So you think he would stay about the same on one of the best defensive teams? Or just the difference wouldn't get him to a .900?

My Curious George Syndrome is firing, sorry.

He'd face fewer high danger chances and fewer shots overall so I think it would improve to some degree.

No but I think the underlying numbers say he could put up a .905 on the Sabres without them changing their system and that should be all they need.

The question is whether UPL is up to that, or do they have to change their system and limit chances because he can't? The Sabres are a Ferrari built to score goals. I don't want them to change

Carter at least has faced shelling before, I'd have more confidence in him than Varlamov or, for God's sake no, Gibson.

assuming tage, dahlin, tuch, skinner score like they did

over 60 power play goals

the 2 new d men can perform

team stays healthy

scoring stays up

bryson does not see the ice

etc
etc
etc

this team could just as easily slide to 10th in the east this season

For the 10,000 time, the offseason isn't over/the roster is far from set. At least one would hope. If it's status quo come October than we have concern

Gibson and Hart are neck and neck with saves above expected from high danger shots which is something this Sabres team have given up a lot. Well above UPL and Comrie

Can't believe we went 25-13 on the road... just to have a below .500 record at home.

Teams gotta show up for the fans and the fans gotta show up for the team

said it before, will say it again

the team has to work to get fans in the 20-30 year old range

since they were 6 to 15 this team flat out sucked

money is tight
tickets are more now vs 15 years ago

the old assumption, win and the fans will come back, well first they have to put a product on the ice to make these younger casual hockey watchers turn into fans

I dont see Ottawa jumping us. Horrendous bottom 6.

Detroit's forwards look strong but the rest doesn't.
