The T-irds usually have LeagueStat for rosters and summaries, but not today. This game was actually in Coquitlam and often teams in those "away" games don't have the facilities to add such updates. However, Windsor's Twitter updated their scoring. The pattern was UBC would score, then Windsor would level. The five goals against would suggest that UBC may have an issue replacing Rylan Toth in goal. Without any game reports or stats it is hard to tell what sort of game it might have been.

In an unusual twist, the Evil Monkeys were outshot at home (35-28). The teams scored in bunches. It was 3-0 Alberta after one, 3-2 after two, and 5-2 final. Those 3rd period goals were a shorthanded one mid-way through and an empty-netter.

This was the only inter-conference match-up of the night. Without the LeagueStat summary this would have been a misleading scoreline. The game was 0-0 after one, shots being 12-11 for SFU. After that, UBC never really needed a goaltender. In the 2nd period, UBC outshot SFU 25-6 but only lead 1-0. The 3rd period saw SFU get just ONE shot, while UBC had two goals on 17 shots to win. Kaeden Lane picked up a 19-save shutout for the T-irds, and may have caught up on some week one homework. The T-irds are now 1-1-1 in the pre-season.

NEWS AND NOTES
The Bluegars announced a massive recruiting class on Thursday. Their link has just pictures. I was not expecting such high turnover, but so far it seems to be a new thing in the CW. The got themselves two goaltenders, three defencemen, and five forwards. They have three WHL acquisitions, four if you count their UPEI transfer in goal. Here‛s the list:
- Shane Farkas (G - UPEI - AUS)
- Connor Bouchard (F - Tri-City - WHL)
- Blake Stevenson (F - Red Deer/Calgary - WHL)
- Jackson Berry (G - Drayton Valley - AJHL)
- Jade Senkow (F - Spruce Grove - AJHL)

- Remy Aquilon (D - Prince Albert - WHL)
- Tim Gould (D - Maine - NCAA)

This is the season‛s first big weekend nation-wide. All CW teams are in action, except for UBC, and the AUS and OUA have a lot of games as well. The Bisons are off to Regina to face two opponents once each, namely the Banjo Cats and the Mythical Mutants, in a 3-way dance. I don‛t mind that format for a weekend at all.
Regina and MacEwan have both posted this year‛s roster page on their websites. The Bisons are keeping us waiting.
Regina has not had a recruiting announcement yet. However, with the roster being posted, I could break down their new line-up. They are only losing one defenceman, but are losing their top 4 scorers (including all-star Connor Chaulk) and all-star goaltender Brandon Holtby. Their eight recruits come from seven different leagues. They will be trying to replace a lot of goals with offence from Junior A recruits.

MacEwan earlier announced six new recruits. In their current roster they have four more, which makes for an immense roster turnover. They also lost six of their top ten scorers from a year ago. They have three NCAA transfers and one more from the ACAC. Three more from the WHL, and one more (Brown) who went from the WHL to Junior B.

NEW RECRUITS (8)
1 Joe Young (G - Markham - OJHL)
9 Jake Fletcher (F - Concordia - OUA)
12 Eric Houk (F - Estevan - SJHL)

MacEwan earlier announced six new recruits. In their current roster they have four more, which makes for an immense roster turnover. They also lost six of their top ten scorers from a year ago. They have three NCAA transfers and one more from the ACAC. Three more from the WHL, and one more (Brown) who went from the WHL to Junior B.
NEW RECRUITS (10)
1/29 Ashton Abel (G - Boston College - NCAA)

The Regina Twitter had a running commentary. Matt Culling and Riley Kane scored for the Banjo-Cats in the 1st period. Ty Barnstable scored early in the 2nd to make it 3-0. Cue the comeback. The Bisons scored three straight goals in the 2nd period to tie the game 3-3. Both sides switched goaltenders mid-way through the 2nd period when it was still 3-2.
There was no scoring in the 3rd period, and the Bisons won in overtime. The Bison scorers and goaltenders were not identified.
The Bisons are now 1-0-0 and Regina is 0-2-1.

Holy Trinity bounced back with a convincing win over SFU. This gives them a weekend split and a 1-2-0 pre-season record. They have next weekend off and then start the season in Saskatown on September 30th. Although they had the puck in The Clown‛s zone almost the entire portion I watched, this is probably not adequate prep for the CW season.
