It's too bad if people are upset about the trade...Hawks weren't paying up for Panarin, right? I'm not the biggest Saad fan, but I thought (probably my first problem), Saad was a quality return. Saad can be a gamebreaker. He definitely should have had 1, if not 2 goals last game (just to contradict myself lol)

Agreed, we gave up a great player for two years and got a quality player for four years plus some suspects who didn't pan out. At the time it looked like Forsburg was an NHL goalie.

Speaking of the Hawks 2nd round pick. Have we figured out if it will be #45 or #55?

Motte was part of that trade. Also if anyone can figure out who we got for the draft pick that would be impressive

Hawks received CBJ's 2018 5th rounder in the Saad/Panarin trade on June 23, 2017.

A year later on June 23, 2018 that pick was packaged with a 2018 3rd and traded to ARI to move up in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft. End result of the trade was the Hawks drafting Niklas Nordgren who is playing in Finland and still unsigned by the Hawks. Hawks have til June 1, 2022 to sign him.

This per cap friendly -

Vegas was the worst 2nd round match for them: any of the other three would have more welcomed...

my fear is if the hawks again fall behind early..that just might do it for them...could be a blow out...

I agree, but honestly when i watch these other match ups the Hawks are playing solid hockey. Hawks will get last change the next 2 games so hopefully JC sees some mismatches he can take advantage of. It's a young team and there's no magic player that's going to make everything better. Keep working hard, battle for pucks and cover that back side forward.

The Hawks have an experienced core that is as resilient as any around.

They may not have enough talent (on ice or in a suit behind the bench) around Toews, Kane, Keith, Saad - yes, even Crawford - to have hopes of winning the series - or maybe even a game or two.

But there is enough there so that the top players with pride can keep them in games.

I predict - no blow out.

DeBrincat just needs to pigeon hole himself as a goal scorer. Get to the prime scoring areas and have linemates feed him or make space so he can unleash his snapshot.

If he can do that, he should get back to at least an annual 30-35 goal range.

But if not and he degrades more next year, he may be go the way of Jonathan Cheechoo.

So the question is do you remain faithful in DeBrincat or try to sell high now in case his stock slips even more.

It would suck to have another Gustafsson situation by not maximizing returns a year early.

- AEL_Fox

That would suck, but for this year that's a good comparison.

F the "Hockey is for everyone" motto. We all know if Reaves wasn't black he wouldn't be an NHL player. Truth! This is America, be someone for who you are, not for what you are.
(yes I know i will get suspended for this, but if I do the moderators are gutless. Stand up for the truth)

Reaves is definitely a dirty player but I don’t agree with this at all. White or Black, he’s a big nasty player that is nice to have in your lineup. He makes it so guys have to player with their head on a swivel and isn’t a complete liability. I’d probably rather have him on our 4th line than Carpenter even though he’s been a decent pker.

Rask = not up to the task

No reason to be aghast
He just is hiding behind a mask
Not a goaltenders mask
But scared of fear itself
He can be safe
And likely be OK
They make so much money
He can get by with one or ywo checks forfeited
Except he gets paid regardless
So he is using paranoid of fear
To back out. Which is his right
Just see him for what this likely is
Unless I hear otherwise
Like he would rather be home with family
Of course he would be home for over two months soon enough anyway
Thanks Rask= yeamattes and ownership
It is what it is. Unfortunately

And perhaps there is a story that we haven’t heard.

Unless I hear otherwise - I’ll assume it’s other than “using paranoid of fear”.

they do..but that has no seemed to impact much of anything over the last 4 years. That core is in the top 25 in highdanger chances against...its not just about the "kids"
my blow out "prediction" is contingent on them falling behind again. I think they scored 1st goal once in 6 games.

The way the brackets work last is supposed to get the worst matchup.

Sweeney said there was not a specific incident or family emergency that led to Rask's decision after a month inside the bubble.

"I mean all of our players, we knew this would be a mental challenge, especially the players with families," he said. "In Tuukka's case, he has a newborn at home, along with two other young girls and he just felt that he needed to be home with them at this particular time. Can't control the timeline of when the playoffs resumed. Give Tuukka a [heck] of a lot of credit for trying to persevere through this and initiate the process to come up and be with his teammates because first and foremost, that's what he wants to do, but the priorities are in the right order and this is what he has to do at this time."

Rask hinted at his struggles following a 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2 on Thursday.

"Considering I had four months off, so not in prime shape, but trying to get there," Rask said. "I'm just trying to have fun and play the game. I'm not stressing too much about results and whatnot. It's August and I haven't played hockey in forever. Just go out there and have fun and see what happens for me."

If you are still running around in fear over Covid, you have your head in your ass.

Rask and every NHLer and anyone under 50 has a better chance of dying playing hockey then the virus.

Odds grow exponentially as you move the age chart lower.

Elite Rask is a selfish team mate. While the conditions can be frustrating, they are doing their JOB. So set and example, suck it up, and do your job. How many of us have worked real hard physical jobs and bad conditions?

He is like Randall "Pink" Floyd bailing on his team in Dazed and Confused. It is not about you, it is about us.

I dunno - if he was on this current Hawk team against Vegas, it might be a different series with him pounding their surfs...

I just got covid this week and it’s a bear. I’ve been knocked down hard with heavy symptoms and your lungs get wrecked. And I’m a very healthy guy in his early 30’s. I’m feeling better today, but this virus is not something to not be concerned with.

I haven’t even begun looking at what potential long term effects this might have on my lungs or heart or anything else.

#46 per Capfriendly
- MjulQvist

I have contacted cap friendly -their board for rounds 2 - 7 reflects the first round changes due to the play in and I have a feeling ONLY the first round stays that way (like IN ALL OTHER YEARS...the hawks didn't picked 3rd, 34th, 65th 96th last year did they?
I let CapFriendly know:
It looks as though your current slotting reflects the changes from the first round in all the other rounds also...
Here's a good example.
Montreal
If there was no play-in, and they didn't win the lottery, the HABS would have been selecting in slot 9, 40, 71,102,133,164, and 195.
The play-in should have ONLY affected that slot #9 pick bouncing it back to slot 16.

As I said maybe you know something that I do not and it was decided that the play in would affect all the Draft rounds but I never saw any mention of this radical change in the the lottery (and play in wins/losses) would affect the other rounds.

It looks to me like when someone on CapFriendly adjusted the first round in adversed shifted the other 2 7 rounds.

That hawks second rounder is at slot 50 or there about...based on Toronto's winning % after the season...

I think my rounds might be more correct...whgen the folks at CapFriendly answer me, we might get a resolution.

As for hockey,

One of the biggest strengths of the championship teams was puck control. Guys who we all hope turn into building blocks (strome and debrincat) have made so many bonehead plays with the puck in the neutral zone giving the puck right back to the knights. If they don’t turn it around I’m shipping them out if I’m Stan. And if no good trades result, then that’s it. Rebuild. Because these two guys are proving they’re not guys you want to bank on in the playoffs.
