At every level Sanheim has gotten better and better. - MJL
Yes. No argument there. But this season, it seemed to happen almost overnight. Correlation? Or how Ghost struggled after he was recalled. Just saying, players don't go out of their way to sing the praises of former defensive partners for no reason. |

I don’t know if this is real tbh.
But I don’t want to encroach on Mordy’s area of expertise. |

I’ll wait. But not for you. For hockeyal’s next novel. I’m hooked. Cliffhangers, man, cliffhangers. |

Patrick is going to be a 3C in this league? Seriously? Patrick has already shown that he plays a 200 foot game and will be a solid 2nd line center for the Flyers this season and will likely develop into a 1C player in the NHL.
You haven't done anything to dispel the label of being negative here.
The Flyers are a developing team and are not a finished product. - MJL
I have no doubt Patrick will be a 2C. Just not on a team that wins close games. Or playoff games. |

The Flyers led the league in overtime losses and were deep in the bottom half in losing 1 goal games. Not a sign of a solid defensive team to give up so many critical goals. They were also 7th in total GA/60, so I guess the shortys and PK were awesome too? Guess what you don't find in the bottom tier of teams for losing close games? Teams that win in the playoffs. Also, the Flyers were 7th in fewest TKa and 10th worst hit differential. But what takeaways and hits have to do with defense?
Interesting fact: Washington was near the bottom in 5v5 GA/60. So I guess that means they can't play 5v5? What a bunch of losers. Someone needs to tell them that. - hockeyal
Do you not understand that the Flyers are still a developing team and have many young players in key roles as well as holes they still have to fill?
If the Flyers weren't in a draft and develop phase and had a veteran team you might have a point.
You move the goal posts with every post.

I don't want to infer anything but if you're insinuating that Patrick doesn't play well away from the puck or won't be a 2 way center, I would disagree. As would most.
Patrick has a real shot at being a 2 way #1 NHL center.

Nope, GA/60 in all situations drags them down to 14th-overall if you count PK and SHGs and ENG.
Also, the Flyers were 7th in fewest TKa and 10th worst hit differential. But what takeaways and hits have to do with defense? - hockeyal
Goals are either scored or they aren't. Scoring of those isn't subjective at all.
Takeaways and hits vary wildly depending on which building you're in/who's keeping score. They aren't completely meaningless, but are pretty close.
Interesting fact: Washington was near the bottom in 5v5 GA/60. - hockeyal
No they weren't, they were 13th-overall.
As for all the Flyers-can't-win-close-games stuff, their defense at 5v5 and PP is what kept the games close. The stuff that dragged them down was not being able to score more goals at ES, and killing penalties. |

Watching hockeyal and MJL duke it out is the closest I’ve ever seen to the Douglas-Lincoln debates. Then Tomahawk is some raucous idiot in the crowd who won’t shut up. We came for the brilliance of hockeyal and MJL, not your babble, pal. |

I view al as more of a Lincoln IMHO. An autistic Lincoln could still have done great things. |
