Melnyk would not pay Karlsson. Why would we think he would pay Kucherov?
- spatso

The rumor is Karlsson turned down $11 Million for 8 years.

But then again the rumor yesterday was that he wants to resign in Ottawa. then today it's the Oilers or Rangers... Nothing seems to make sense lately lol

I don't like tanking, but we can all thank Buffalo and Arizona for that during the McDavid year. The NHL system was fairly generous, but not overly so. Blatantly tanking like they did made the NHL change so bad that if people are really tracking it, you might win the first pick if you are last overall, but anywhere from 2-5 can be a real kick in the sack if you're racing for the bottom, because you are almost guaranteed a drop somewhere in there

Not sure where you've been friend ..but it was Edmonton that changed the draft system. .and they weren't even tanking ..it was just plain incompetence ...anyway to bad Doris couldn't find any other bottom team..to trade him too? (Buffalo?)risto +1st? ..Vancouver?Horvath +1st? ..Detroit Larkin +1st as main pieces? Not necessarily those guys. .but just an example. .if he goes to a contender the first won't matter much!..so Ottawa would at least have a chance at Hughes. .and if they could try and trade stone? ..or something to the avalanche for their pick back+? ..anyways I really hate seeing this happen to any team!..to bad they couldn't replace dory. .and let the new gm try to get maximum return . personally st . Louis would be a great team to trade with! ..also Anaheim with Larson (the good one!)..lol.. .good luck sens..

Edmonton has always been the the team that had the greatest need to try and acquire Karlsson. McDavid is a huge talent. Imagine the impact with Karlsson supporting the Edmonton attack. Draisaitl, Nurse and Yamamoto would be the ask that would work really well long term for the Sens. It is equal (or better) than anything offered by Tampa. And, as good as any Dallas offer that includes Heiskenan.

But, we know Melnyk won't take back any substantial salary. So, unlikely Edmonton offer ever gets off the ground (except in a three way).

The only thing that Ottawa is doing right is slowing down the process. My guess is he gets his very best offer in September as teams are heading into training camp.

I don't think Edmonton is going to happen, but to be honest. I wouldn't want draisaitl back. He's a good player, but very over paid imo and I'm not sure how good he would be without Mcdavid

70 points in 78 games last year. Majority of which were without McDavid, and anchored to Lucic. Doesnt matter either way. Edmonton is not giving up Drai Yamo and Nurse for anyone.

I strongly disagree, $8.5 cap hit for a dynamic 22 year old is going to be a bargain in a few years looking at the direction this league is going.

I'm not saying he's not a good player, far from it, I think he's great. All i'm saying is that he benefits quite a bit playing with Mcdavid (Who wouldn't). Taking that away, i don't think it would be the same.

Agree about Nurse & Leon.... not about Yamamoto. He would have to be part of the deal for the best D-man in the league.

Having McDavid + Leon + Karlsson on the same team? Yea it's going to cost
