When Connolly was hit from behind, or Vanek was hacked in the ankles in the playoffs, no one care that we had Peters or Mair. Stupid players are always gonna take runs at your best players. There is no such thing as a deterrent

No, it's not, because the role of "protector" is an anachronism.

How can someone be protecting his teammates if he only plays 8 minutes a night? There are no heavyweight fights anymore, they're spur of the moment. If a guy is on the bench for 52 minutes he's not going to be on the ice to be there when poop happens.

Risto plays half the game, he's there for when stuff happens, which I can't remember the last time it did.

Signing a guy because he's "tough" is a stupid waste of money. Maroon had 44 goals, great, Jesus had over 200 points. Who benefitted from whom?

Just 1 when he traded Forsberg IMO.

I saw a few people post about trading for Stone, and although I would like him on this team the way things are going best chance of getting him is waiting till next off-season. After reading Ottawa guy's article on here looks like there is a good chance Stone will just go to Arbitration, get his 1 year contract, and then become a UFA next season. Plus, since he filed for arbitration, I'm not sure what would happen if he gets traded, most likely the same outcome, why not go to UFA next season, that's what I would do if I were him. Also I am not sure if a player can get traded or not while waiting to go to arbitration, they probably can I just don't know for sure.
