Maybe two ways to look at it, he’s from Rochester so it wouldn’t stun me to see Buffalo, NYR, NYI, Devils and maybe Boston on his list.
Or he’s 35 and put just teams he thinks has a shot at a cup on his list, not a lot of contenders with cap space and room in their bottom 6 for Callahan though. - smellmyfinger

Funny when discussing guys on the move how they want to go to a contender. Nobody ever looks at guys on a contender and think do they really want to leave and go to a loser? - junaka3

Tampa Bay and Ottawa continue to work on an Erik Karlsson trade. The NYR may be involved as Lightning need cap room. Callahan back to NY?

I don’t know why we’d take him, he’s making almost as much as Karlsson next year. Why not just try and get Karlsson? Accumulating draft picks doesn’t appeal to me.. as Jan said, how long does this rebuild last? Future picks won’t see nhl until at least 3-4 years from now, with no guarentee they ever develop into anything. Do people realize Kreider is only a year younger Karlsson? Core guys on our team: Zib, Kreider, Hayes,Fast,Namestikov are all 25-27 years old. Are we going to just waste their prime years? If so, why aren’t we asking Staal and Hank to waive their ntc’s. How about moving Shatty and Zuc |

What about when Karlsson is making 12 million next year and for the next 8 years until he’s 37 |
|
|
|
The point of taking Callahan back is to put him on the 4th line and get a good prospect in return, not to make the team better this year. |

Well I don't want Cally for another go around, but taking Cally will give us assets, trying to get Karlsson for 1 year would be losing assets. It makes no sense trying to get Karlsson for 1 year and losing assets when they really aren't going to be competitive. If Karlsson doesn't re-sign it means you gave up some good player/picks for 1 year of nothing. Makes no sense |

Because it’s free assets for cap space. Callahan’s contract lasts two more years, you think the Rangers come close to cap ceiling before then? |

Buddy, they’re rumors. My question is if Cally has any say, why would he want to leave Tampa? |

The rebuild just started for crying out loud. It doesn’t happen over night. |

He has a limited no trade clause, he has very little say, he's coming home and I don't mind it as long as we get Taylor Raddysh and a pick back, (frank) take Coburn too, aid the 'Lose for Huges" and still provide a good leadership mentor with Cally, win win |

Obviously nobody is trading for Karlsson without agreeing on extension. Teams make money in playoffs. There’s no trophy for having most picks and prospects. |

Its not his choice.. if they want to trade him they have the right to, so long as the team that they are trading him to is on his list.
Pretty sure Gretzky didn't want to go to the St. Louis Blues..... but he wound up there
Do you think Tavares wanted to go to the Maple Le.... oh forget that.. bad example.. #ChildhoodDream |

My original post: has anyone heard has he given a list! He has a 16 team no trade list. If he doesn’t want to go , he would just need to have Rangers on that list. |

Pittsburgh, built through the draft. Chcuago, built through the draft, Washington, built through the draft. LA built through the draft. |

So you think just getting Karlsson puts the Rangers as a cup favorite?
The Rangers have tried over the last decade to get the best player at the TDL or UFA. It hasn't got them a cup and depleted their farm system. I had no problem with it when they were going for it, but at a certain time every team has to go through a rebuild to replenish the team. Thats what they are doing now, and I have no issue with it. If you aren't a patient person, probably not going to be the best time to be a Rangers fan. |

Someone tell me how is a rebuild is taking to long if it only started 6 months ago?
Ok if you wanna give me the Stepan trade its 18 months ago. But regardless, have some patience for (frank)s sake Jesus |

If we stop worrying about picks and prospects then in 7-10 years we are right back into another rebuild. |
