Latest from 'the fourth period' gossip guy:
https://www.thefourthperi...ade-talks-reaching-climax
"We had reported earlier in the week that the Rangers were no longer in the hunt – it’s our understanding that they’ve re-entered the mix, and not just as a possible third-team to help eat up some salary."
- 21peter
#tom'sboyzzz at "The Fourth Period" know little, and get it wrong waaaay more than correct. Maybe it starts first with their site's name as far as hockey goes, since there ain't a "Fourth Period" played in hockey, unless necessary. |

He also stated that Rangers lack elite wingers. So if you swapped him with guys that have?? - junaka3
He's right!
Name one guy on NYR who is an "elite" winger?
To be called elite, kind of think that you would be able to play on the first line of every NHL team, and the likes of Kreider and Zuuc aren't that.
They and many other wingers are really good, and excellent for stretches during the season, but they aren't elite.
As far as any BIG trades that may/may not transpire, I'm just very wary for them to be done this year. I want to see what the youngens have over the course of this season. If a trade does happen for Kuch or EK, then hopefully, NYR doesn't get raped |

The only elite guy on the Rangers I can think of is Hayes |

Elite skills...maybe, just like Kreider, but they don't do it for a whole season. They need to be more consistent |

But don't forget that Hayes is going to be needed for his defensive skills roles as well, since not having a Nash and Grabner any longer doing well in those matters. |

I want Hayes to stay, and last year was a good one, but he isn't in my elite book right now |

I was joking. I would love for him to be the number 2 and get a legit number 1(praying Chytil can be it). Zib I have no problem with trading. Other than the PP, he does nothing for me. |

Absolutely!
When he's on his game, its impossible to get puck off his stick.
I always think about that goal against the Isles when he just toyed w/ the defense |

As long as NYR has a more established center in mind to take his place, b/c if Zib goes, god help us w/ Hayes, Chytil, and Andersson as our top three centers |

Well I'm not too worried about the next 2 years. Would like to throw Chytil and Andersson in there this year and see how they do. Don't want to stunt their growth, but lets see what we got for more than a couple games. |

At least when I talk about trading for Draisatl it’s realistic |

You’re missing point. If you’re saying Rangers lack elite wingers, then it’s unfair to judge Zib against the so called true 1c’s that have elite wingers!! and I believe Rangers can get Karlsson without getting raped. |

Hayes to me is center on a lines you match against other teams top line. He’s not going anywhere. |

If Zib is a #1 C, then he should be making the players around him better. He doesn't. He's really good. We have the same problem we had when Stepan and Brassard were here. They were really good 2nd line centers, borderline 1st line centers. But they were not true 1Cs. I'd love for Zib to have a great season and prove us all wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. |

So then there’s no elite wingers? Just really good centers that make average wingers elite? This gets very tiresome when peeps have an answer for everything! Zib turned 25 after season. He’s developed into an above average center. IMO, already better all around than Stepan and Brassard |

Has there been any news on Kravtsov as far as buying out his khl contract? Zadina signed with wings. Wondering if Rangers prefer our guy go back to khl for a season? Or will we see him in training camp? |

Not really. You seem to go to great lengths to prove ??? That you decide who a #1c is? I’m projecting what I think he can do based on his development. I hope you are as kind to all your beloved “prospects” if and when they get to nhl. FYI. Schiefel is older, but I was just throwing out a number. You and your buddies can have your blog back now - junaka3
Project away. Since Zibanejad has entered the league, he ranks 59th in points among centers. In terms of points per game since that time he ranks 72nd, minimum 82 games played. So you can say not really and try to look through those tinted red, white and blues glasses. But the point remains the same. Mika Zibanejad has yet to show he's #1 center.

From EK blog
As Tampa insider Erik Erlendsson said on XM yesterday the Lightning are trying to figure out how to make this cap work and Kucherov is a player who has to be considered...I am told the NY Rangers are fixated on the possibility of landing Kucherov and so far Tampa hasn’t slammed any doors. |

Which basically means that TB will except nothing less for kucherov than a full fleecing of the NYR |

Look, you're the one trying to sell Zib as something he is not. He is very good, imo. I have no problem with him being on the team. Just don't say he's a true 1C. |

Ooooph. . Tough........ nope
The possibility of a young #1 center in Chytil is too much to give up. Same goes for Skjei.
It's been too long since NYR has had so much potential in it's young players/prospects, and I just want to play it out and see what we got and not watch them become stars on other teams.
I'm totally fine with youth getting a chance to play, even if it's a tough road this season
Guys like Vesey, Buch, Skjei, Chytil, Andersson, etc ...will be exciting nto watch. Want to see if AV was really that bad for the young guys OR if Quinn can teach them the right way to play night after night |

Tampa doesn't need to trade Kucherov anytime soon even if they acquired Karlsson
his cap hit 4.7 mil this year and that's gold for a team making every attempt to win the Cup now
after the season, yeah, major cap issues trying to get Kucherov to fit
but, it wouldn't make sense for them to trade him now for a package of Ranger prospects |
