Put the lube down it isn't happening
- TPC

I’ll lube and jizz all over this damn site if it happens there is at least some smoke to it I think. TB is effed at some point, no doubt they lose someone pretty good if they get Karlsson. They gonna regret signing Miller and Mac

-Trade for Kucherov and get Ryan and Cally (to give up less assets)
- Sign Panarin, Seguin and Ryan Ellis next summer

I’m using Monopoly money, but (frank) it!!

All seriousness, Seguin probably stays in Dallas

- Slimtj100

Im w/ ya. Isn't Panarin a winger too though?

Mix for Karlsson or Kucherov?

I wouldn’t be surprised if anyone is traded, no matter the name.

Yea but we need wingers.

Arguments sake, if Kravtsov is the real deal and Chytil is also, but as a winger, with those two, Panarin and Kucherov..that would rival any top 4 wingers in the leauge. I’m obviously getting ahead of myself haha but whatevs I’m having fun

Biggest trade ever

NYR get Kucherov, Bobby Ryan and Callahan
TB gets Karlsson and Zucc
Ott gets Kreider, Buchnevich and TBs pick from the Rangers

Mika Zibanejad has surpassed the 50 point mark one time. Does he have ability, yeah, has he shown enough of it. no. Like you said he needs to stay healthy

I'm gonna give you a list of #1 centers. Excluding one year wonders Barzal and W.Kalrsson. Also exlcuding Giroux bcause he spent the majority of the year at RW.

So that leaves:
Crosby
Malkin
Backstrom
Kuznetsov
Tavares
Matthews
Barkov
Mackinnon
Seguin
McDavid
Stamkos
Kopitar
Monahan
Scheifele
Bergeron
Couture

You couldn't be grasping any hard at the straws you're trying to sell here.

90-95% of those guys have been in league longer. Zib has improved every year

Zib or Kreider

For Ottawa, It wouldn’t be a bad idea to trade Karlsson and get Zib back. He was a fan favorite if I recall

True!

All we got right now is belief that young guns will become studs. I would just much rather sign FAs then trade away prospects

Zibby being such a fan favorite is blown out of proportion. Sens diehards was pissed off when he showed up out of shape for training camp...

I think if Gorton does anything big, it will be to trade current and well known roster guys instead of prospects. That’s why it’s easier to take on cap dump players. You can’t get big salaries and keep the current ones you have. Rangers are Ina unique position in my opinion and something they could take advantage of.

In the Kucherov thing, it may make sense for TB to say to themselves, ok let’s trade Karlsson for Kucherov and obviously need a 3rd party to do it. But that trade off kind of makes sense for them. Defense killed them so you get Karlsson and don’t lose to to much in the way of offense that way. This is why I don’t think it’s so outlandish

Molesting Ottawa is how you do it lol. It’s either give up a ton of picks and prospects or take on as much salary as possible. The only way NYR or any team get Kuch is by Ottawa giving them Karlsson. I don’t see any way possible TB gets to have all these guys AND Karlsson AND Kucherov. Kuch is gonna get 11-12 mill also. That’s insane

Do they lose the goalie or do they lose Kucherov. I guess Point would be the other guy to get. But they can’t possibly keep all these guys, at some point they will be hamstrung

Within two years TB better win cup because they will be in NYRs position in no time

On a much smaller scale, but think back to when the Rangers has to let Hags go because they couldn’t afford to sign him. It’s kind of similar. The only way they could get EK and keep Kuch is if they both took some sort of discount then what they’d normally get nowadays. Either way, both of them would be a combined 20-22 mill you’d figure. That would be like 75 million on the team at that point, without a few guys they’d still need to sign and a couple more roster spots needed to fill. That’s also taking out the UFAs like G and Coburn. Come 2020 they’re effed

Someone needs to do a cap friendly with these two on the team

MacKinnon
Mcdavid
Barkov
Scheifele
Monahan
Matthews

So, no on that point. Care to try again?

I like Zib. He's a good player. If he's your 2nd line center, the team he's on is set up well. If he's your 1st line center, the team better have depth down the middle. The Rangers have Kevin Hayes and a young unknown, but potential talent in Chytil. But that is it.

Not really. You seem to go to great lengths to prove ??? That you decide who a #1c is? I’m projecting what I think he can do based on his development. I hope you are as kind to all your beloved “prospects” if and when they get to nhl. FYI. Schiefel is older, but I was just throwing out a number. You and your buddies can have your blog back now

Dont think he (Tom)is trying to "prove" anything, but rather , that Zib's stats don't support your arguement that he's a "true" number 1 center. Maybe, down the line, if he does continue to improve, like you said, but at this time, he simply isn't a number 1 center. Also, until he plays a full season, injury free, how can he be counted on as such?

Most of the centers that were listed also jumped right into the league and were considered to be number 1 centers as well...Zib hasn't thus far.

If you read any of our back n forths, I think you would realize, that me and Tom aren't exactly buddies

The current bottom lines with the Erik Karlsson situation are:
(1) He has stated he will not re-sign with Ottawa unless their ownership changes hands, as per why he refused their "8 years NORTH OF of $80M" extension offer, reported on July 1st. He's also seeking IN EXCESS of Doughty's $88M for 8 years.
(2) It's possible Melnyk will sell the franchise, & maybe this is adding to the delay on a rumored trade to Tampa, in addition to the matters of who & what else is dealt to whom, & for Tampa to relieve as much cap space needed as possible.
(3) Tampa is the favorite for him to go to should Melnyk not sell the franchise, due to them having the best assets, plus the huge tax savings, & his friend in Victor Hedman playing there. In fact, Friday evening, Martin Fennelly of "The Tampa Bay Times", reported this interesting fact:
* "During January's All Star Weekend in Tampa, Karlsson JOKED (?) that "he'd found his new home". He spent the weekend at HEDMAN'S home. In the spirit of Gasparilla Parade Day, the two of them showed up for the Saturday Skills Competition in pirate costumes."
So Karlsson already knows his own also alternate favorite to sign with for 8 years.
(4) Vegas is currently the one team mentioned that is still willing officially to take on Bobby Ryan's remaining contract. That could be Karlsson's next option, provided he agrees to go there due to his Modified NTC.
(5) The Rangers do not want to tie up Ryan at $7.25M for 4 years, which will prevent them for one option, from going after the mid to upper tier free agents starting in the next summer or two. That would also prevent them from acquiring Karlsson directly from Ottawa through means of a very high trade cost exchange.

He also stated that Rangers lack elite wingers. So if you swapped him with guys that have??
