My bad.. I was way off. It will be fun to see both Shea and Chris contribute nothing to their teams and play in less than 3 regular season games.

Weber will be back December..... people act like he's dead.

Then again most people also consider him to be 1000 years old so...

He's just out long enough to make sure we have a terrible start to the season and raising the odds of a lottery pick.

Dump Hainsey and trade for Spurgeon and/or Niederreiter

Rielly Spurgeon
Gardiner Carrick (they get very good results together)
Dermott Zeitsev

Trade Gardiner at some point if there is no extension that works. Can also start working in Lilygrin as a RHD later in the season as a replacement for Carrick

Great - then next time some big salami like Backes is in front of the net giving it to Andersen - we'll get 5'9" 160lbs Spurgeon move him out of the way, instead of 6'3" Hainsey.

Some of them are treating this Weber thing like it is bad news.

It is (frank)ing awesome news for them.

In fact, the only thing that would be better would be Price getting injured or Weber retiring and Nashville getting stuck paying all that money

Lose for Hughes

I hope you shock the hockey world and return to your octocup ways. Then fall off a cliff and finish just outside of the bottom 5

OR... he comes back well rested, and after a month or so becomes dominant.

Then you get a great return at the trade deadline

I'm not even worried that he'll be his old monstrous self when he comes back.

I like having better players as well. Doesn't hurt to have some size. None of the teams that made the semi-finals last season employed a large number of really small players - from my recollection.

The real concern will be his skating as the game continues to get faster.

That contract is unbelievable... 8 more years at nearly 8 mill cap... until he is like 39 or 40 ?!?

It would be great for the Habs if they could trade him at he deadline.

If he truly isn't going to play the last 3 years, there may be a significant market for him.

Yeah.... a realistic scenario would have the Habs young players taking over in 2021 more or less....

By that time, Weber will already be 36 years old.

He's great, but I think he'd be a much better fit elsewhere, where they need him to win NOW.

If everything else is equal, sure go with the size.
But the problem is Hainsey is not very good anymore

He's still an excellent d-man, also could be traded easily. No NTC, unlike Horton. Could we interest you in Horton plus a pick for an extra greasy Montreal smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz's?

Deal.

I expect Montreal to take on bad contract if it can give them picks or players.

The Armia trade was a good move by Bergevin. I hope he does more instead of just wasting all that cap space.

The fact that they can reanimate his 142 year old corpse in only a matter of 6 months is pretty impressive. The real test will be to see if he can get out of a wheelchair and into a knee-walker.

He was ok, last year, way better than Polak. He's a 5-6 or 7, and hopefully will be used that way. As Tumbleweed alluded more moves are coming, shoring up D is a priority and Dubas seems to be doing things well to date.

Says he's from Illinois.... so I'm guessing no relation with Marc-Édouard
