Not necessarily. Myers is bigger and a RHD which fills a need. He also gives the puck away less and is better defensively.

Makes more money temporarily. The next contract, Gardiner probably asks and gets more than Myers because Gardiner puts up more points.

The point is, bigger RHD for less money on the next contract.

Unless Tampa Bay gives them something crazy, Tampa Bay is going to walk away better after they get Karlsson. It'd be really hard not to. And that means a 2nd round exit unless the defense improves.

Hedman, Karlsson, McDonagh, Stralman and Sergachev (if they don't trade him). Then next year, they drop Girardi and Coburn which is addition by subtraction.

Plus Stamkos, Kucherov, Johnson, Miller, Palat...
